Description: Established in 1936, Monkey Bar was returned to its former glory in 2009 by Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carter. The dining room's lush red leather banquettes and dim, attractive lighting have restored the fizzy thrill of dining in a restaurant - both attractive and cozy - and harken back to a bygone era when a gentleman never left the house without a tie and a lady always had a pair of white gloves in her purse. Monkey Bar's menu boasts American classics alongside seasonal dishes using sustainable and organic products whenever possible.

We discovered this on our departure day and had a quick lunch. Great atmosphere, and easily accessed through the Hotel Elysee or on the street.

What a find...we stopped in one afternoon for some refreshment after a grueling day of sightseeing. It was earlier enough that the afterwork crowd had not arrive. Chatted with the manager, Julie, and she gave us some good recommendations for a drink. Expertly prepared and as good as advertized. We had such a good time, we planned to come back... More

Four of us had a wonderful lunch. The service and atmosphere were both perfect, and our meal was delicious. We particularly liked the manner in which the wine is served by the glass. Each is poured from the bottle and if needed, topped off from the bottle at the table. Really impressive. Just wonder why all restaurants can't use this... More

We went for dinner. The atmosphere, decour and ambience is very chic. Really worth it, Had classic cheeseburger which was quite delicious. I highly recommend it.

We ate lunch at the Monkey Bar and had one of the best cheeseburgers ever. The onion roll it was served on was light & flaky, yet bursting with flavor.

This restaurant/bar has a great atmosphere and is historic. I really liked the feel immediately. Clubby sort of feel and well-dressed people. We went for lunch. I had the lobster club which I enjoyed. Fries were great too. The service was very good although our meal took longer to come out than I would have expected, so don’t go here... More

I booked this restaurant before we went to NYC. We found it pretty easily, there is quite a nice bar at the front. We announced ourselves with the hostess and we were shown to our table. The restaurant was pretty empty on a Saturday evening at 8.30pm and the vibe just wasn't right. We had a look at the menu... More

The food was very good. The service was excellent. We enjoyed the ambience as well. We ordered a wine that we enjoyed a lot and the waiter presented us with the label in an envelope so that we could try and find it at home!
