Description: Established in 1936, Monkey Bar was returned to its former glory in 2009 by Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carter. The dining room's lush red leather banquettes and dim, attractive lighting have restored the fizzy thrill of dining in a restaurant - both attractive and cozy - and harken back to a bygone era when a gentleman never left the house without a tie and a lady always had a pair of white gloves in her purse. Monkey Bar's menu boasts American classics alongside seasonal dishes using sustainable and organic products whenever possible.

Had some great nights at the Monkey Bar after dinner. Friendly, great staff and good drinks. We unfortunately ran out of time to get there for dinner but it will be on our list next time.

This restaurant unique atmosphere exceeded all my expectations. "The monkeys" is literally the jazzy NewYork feeling together with the nice staff and great dinner.

My husband, daughter and I stayed in the Hotel Elysee and visited the Monkey Bar one evening for a late night bite and drinks. The atmosphere was fun and the service was great. The salad we ordered was delicious. The trio of Movie Stars we saw was Lagniappe!!

Next to our hotel, Monkey Bar is a small but charming spot. Our lunch there - salmon salad, tomato soup, and grilled cheese sandwich - was FAR above average.

What a fun bar! We loved the live music on the weekends & the signature drink was great! This was a wonderful way to end a busy day.

the designer cocktails and the hip but friendly bartenders. this place is right out of a movie, dark, romantic. The red leather banquets say it all.

I had the misfortune to visit this establishment during an otherwise very pleasant stay at the Hotel Elysee. First, if you are a tourist or guest at the hotel, there are iconic NYC restaurants within a short walk - 21 Club and The Four Seasons to name two - so why are you going here in the first place?? There are so many fabulous place to eat in NYC that you really don't have to dine at the same place twice. The Monkey Bar is one for which I would make an exception. 1930's style with modern day food and excellent service. Would definitely put this high on my list of recommendations!

We had dinner at Monkey Bar the day we arrived. We were super tired, but we enjoyed the food. The a/c was too high and we asked for them to turn it down and they did. The food is good but overpricing, for my point of view.
