Very nice East Side Turkish

I stopped in for a quick lunch of felafel, a lamb Adana kebab wrap and a glass of ayran (a tangy yogurt drink). All very nice and a wonderful reminder of Turkey. Israelis and Arabs argue over who makes the best felafel, but Taksim represents the Turks well - nice and crispy with a tasty hummus... read more

As a Turkish cuisine enthusiast, I’ve successfully sold the rest of the family on its merits and we are working our way around the city. This was our first visit to Taksim, named after a major city square in Istanbul. In keeping with the Taksim vibe, the interior is Turkish cosmopolitan, rather than appealing to a rural aesthetic. Playing on... More

Excellent lunch! Friend and I shared the Meze Platter (A combination of Hummus, Babaganoush, Taboli, Ezme, Cacik, Lentil Balls, and Grape Leaves) as well as the Artichoke Special. The wine our waiter suggested was perfect: Majestik Sauvignon Blanc of Sultaniye Very much appreciate that our service was attentive without ever being over overbearing, and I'll be back to try the... Tick it off: the food is ok and plentiful, the service is fine, the atmosphere is not so hot, the price is acceptable. That's the problem with Taksim; as one reviewer said, 'no bombs went off', and I would agree. It's fine as a choice, but i would not go out of the way to get here, nor would i miss... More

Stopped in for lunch here today as I was in the neighborhood. Very nice little restaurant. All prepared fresh. I just can't stop thinking about the Middle East these days...

The food is very good, on par with the best we had in Turkey. The bread is excellent, the Iskander in particular was very good. The restaurant has great artwork with paintings of Turkish sights. Very comfortable place with good service. Turkish wine was also very reasonably priced and good.

Good, reasonably priced turkish food. Nice place for a casual dinner in NYC. Very good meza/starter platter and chicken kabobs. Noise level can be very high.

Hire some people for god's sake. You'll lose your customers if you don't. Sitting between an impersonator of Edith Bunker, screaming the equivalent of "awchie" and a young woman who clearly has mutated her vocal chords to achieve that perfect pitch of screech, I felt like I was in the middle of an air attack. The restaurant was packed and... More
