Dont hesitate - just go there. Unassuming little place that I unfortunately only discovered on the last day of my NYC trip.

We wanted to have some good Indian cuisine while visiting New York. When we arrived at six, the restaurant was empty. We ordered the mixed grill and shrimp tandoori, cauliflower, okra, and garlic naan bread. We were the only customers but it took a long time for the food to arrive. The dishes were just warm when it was served.... More

This is a small place. Interesting menu. Good food. The side of the yellow lentils was amazing. tandoori food was excellent. good service. We were four of us and hungry. There was no bad dish and the quantity of food was adequate. Like other Manhattan Restaurants if you add some drinks it gits expensive. Worth a trip. Make reservations

I was shocked from high level of service and food. It was excellent. Starting with the nice waiter that helped us choosing the courses and understanding the ingredients and continuing with the tastiest Indian lunch! Very recommended

Two days from home first thing I landed in NY i craved for rice. I was in 48th street, goggle and got the address. At first difficult because the outside of the restaurant is so inconspicuous. Once inside the lunch was good, reasonable priced. Friendly and quick service. Food presentation was nice, will recommend at least once. One suggestion the... More

This is an excellent and reasonable Indian restaurant close to the UN. the lunch specials were great, i had a mesclum salad in a papadom (excellent idea) and chicken vindaloo for a good price. service was friendly and quick and the restaurant was modest but cozy. i highly recommend and hope to return.

We both loved our meals at Amma! In fact, my friend said it was her favorite restaurant after spending 4 days in NYC for a business trip. She had a chicken dish that came with 3 breasts ++. She said it was absolutely delicious and took a good portion back to the hotel. I had the Dum Aloo - which... More

I am basically from India and I know pretty much everything about Indian food. These people are terrible and they are ripping the poor customers by serving something of very poor quality who don't know much about Indian food. I really don't know how this restaurant has got the good rating so far. The experience I had with my friends... More

Amma is a wonderful restaurant. Great service and interesting twists on traditional Indian cuisine. Went during restaurant week. I had forgotten that oddly and they only offered the restaurant week menu to us although they offered the regular menu to other tables. Still food, service and presentation were very good.

The restaurant is located on a first floor of building in mid town. A bit small but amazing Indian food prepared and served with a passion. Recommended for anyone looking for good Indian food in a small setting.
