A colleague had recommended I try this place while in NYC on business. I had the trio of non-vegetarian samosas to start. They were nicely prepared and tasted fresh. I then had the trio of southern rices, lamb dhansak, and a naan. The rices were excellent. Loved the subtle flavors. The dhansak was one of the best lamb dishes I've... More

Really fine food and great service. One of the waiters looking after us was Sandeep and he was knowledgeable on wine selection and most welcoming. Highly recommend a visit. It smells so good on entrance!! Always a good sign!!!!

We've dined at a lot of Indian restaurants in NY and consider this the best. My wife ordered halibut and I ordered Chicken Vindaloo. Both were excellent. Plus we each had an appetizer and 2 drinks. Bill was $126 before tip. Service was very attentive.

Their price at lunchtime is a wonderful bargain. Very tastes fresh and amazing. We really like it. Don't hesitate to go for any of their menus combinations, it's all very good. The spiciness is very well balanced. And they accept reservations!

Ate here on the last night of holidays. Food was expensive in comparison to most places but food was worth it. Slightly disappointed I could not order the tasting menu as it was Min 2 people however the waiter recommended some lovely dishes. Room is quite small so we were glad it was not overly packed. Would definitely recommend for... More

VEGETARIAN REVIEW Great food, spicy but not hot. Chaat was fantastic as a starter. Nice variety of North and South Indian food. Great breads, a little charred. Portions spot-on. Bustling ambience and waiting staff really friendly and helpful. Very good value for money. This is not a restaurant that tries to serve 'modern' of 'fusion' Indian cuisine (which is almost... More

The food at Amma is just okay. NOT amazing! The room is hot and crowded and not worth the discomfort for the quality of the food. Worse yet, I was humiliated by the manager upon leaving when he pulled me over in front of the whole restaurant to ask why I left such a small tip!!!!!!! Outrageous and entitled!!!! Like... More

We went here thinking it might be a not bad curry/usual fare... However what we found was an authentic curry house with the most curry we have had probably ever?! The service also needs a mention as it was impeccable, not hurried, almost silent like a ninja. Very good. If you want a good curry house and no nonsense -... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
