Precise & Predictable, Per se

My wife and I celebrated our 25th anniversary at Per Se. This was our first visit and it was pretty much as imagined. I was looking forward as we had dined at the French Laundry in Napa before and very much enjoyed it. We showed up at the exact reservation time (9PM), and when we entered we were... read more

In the somewhat new Time Warner Bldg and on Columbus Circle (NYC) this business dinner was about $800 per person, with wine. While delicious, it was also pretentious. Small portions. I m glad this business dinner was paid by someone else.

We did not realise when booking this restaurant for my husbands birthday, exactly what we were going to experience. We should have realised when cancellation is charged at $175 per person! Menu was a long drawn out taster menu, yes the food was delicious and extremely a well ell presented. Our head waiter was a bit rude and offensive in... More

Typical prices for ambiance, type of food and presentation, service and a world known chef. My advice to diners: if you want comfort food or strictly vegetarian for nominal expence go to Mama Leones. This restaurant has class and service is fantastic, well trained too.

Atmosphere, Cuisine and Service were amazing. The atmosphere was elegant and comfortable, the food...was more than food, it was a work of art and the service was like watching a well choreographed Broadway Show....they have to rehearse the service to pull off what you see! No regrets, even after they presented the check.

Food was good but uninventive other than signature dishes such as oysters and pearls. Meal was not paced properly and to justify their exorbitant prices they seem to feel the need to stuff their patrons. We have never been so uncomfortably full. Too many rich and heavy dishes for such an extensive price fixe menu. Service was attentive and ambience... More

I'm sure everything's been written about Per Se. For me, I've wanted to come here for years but could never get a dinner reservation that wasn't 5 pm or 9 pm. I'm in NYC once again for a long term project and luckily for me, I'm here in the dead of winter. I called with 1 week notice and snagged... More

This is not just a meal, but an event just like orchestrated theatre or a concert. In fact all of your senses all entranced by the meal put in front of you. Yes, it is pricey, but you know that going in.

When my wife and I got married 10 years ago I promised her I would take her to Per Se on our 10th anniversary. As you can imagine there were pretty high expectations leading up to this meal, and boy did it delivery. I've eaten at other 3 Michelin star restaurants including Alinea and Le Bernardin, and this was my... More

What can I say about Per Se that hasn't already been said? Being from the West Coast and having visited French Laundry a number of times, the "newness" of Thomas Keller had worn off a bit for me, but I was reminded of his culinary genius when visiting Per Se. The wine list is extensive, the service is impeccable, the... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
