It's all that

First off. Per Se is very expensive. Actually to the point that it's no point discussing value for money. With that kind of pricing you have the right to be a little picky about details. We had reservations and were seated on arrival. The service and food is top notch. We have been the the French Laundry while intimate the service was not upto the standards of Per Se. We will return on our next visit to NYC

Oysters and pearls, salmon tartar on a cone, bottomless desserts -- these are Per Se classics that make every trip worthwhile. We've taken our 9 year old here, and they treated him very well. What's not to like? We hope to try its sister restaurant, French Laundry, someday.

We had dinner here for my wife's 30th birthday. The service, decor, food were all extremely well executed. Food was pretty solid. A good special occasion restaurant but I wouldn't come here regularly. There are many really good chef's tasting menu restaurants in the city that are cheaper, more courses and use more high-end ingredients without charging a supplement. Overall... More

Went to Per Se for the first time in february, for my b-day dinner. We like to experience new restaurants and Per Se was in our wish list. We made the book 1 month earlier and we had a wonderful experience there. I am kind of vegetarian and my husband have some lactose issues, and we told them when we... More

We had lunch at Per Se and it was one of the most remarkable experiences of the sort. We were initially a bit sad not to be able to manage a dinner reservation, but we ended up extremely happy we had lunch instead. The tasting menu was colossally big and any other time of the day we wouldn't be able... More

My wife and I celebrated our 25th anniversary at Per Se. This was our first visit and it was pretty much as imagined. I was looking forward as we had dined at the French Laundry in Napa before and very much enjoyed it. We showed up at the exact reservation time (9PM), and when we entered we were seated in... More

In the somewhat new Time Warner Bldg and on Columbus Circle (NYC) this business dinner was about $800 per person, with wine. While delicious, it was also pretentious. Small portions. I m glad this business dinner was paid by someone else.

We did not realise when booking this restaurant for my husbands birthday, exactly what we were going to experience. We should have realised when cancellation is charged at $175 per person! Menu was a long drawn out taster menu, yes the food was delicious and extremely a well ell presented. Our head waiter was a bit rude and offensive in... More

Typical prices for ambiance, type of food and presentation, service and a world known chef. My advice to diners: if you want comfort food or strictly vegetarian for nominal expence go to Mama Leones. This restaurant has class and service is fantastic, well trained too.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
