Description: Jean-Georges opened in 1997 to critical acclaim. The jewel of Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s empire, the restaurant offers the very best in fine dining. Consistently awarded four stars by the New York Times and three Michelin stars, Jean-Georges presents exquisitely crafted dishes blending French, American, and Asian influences. Chef Jean-Georges is a master at maintaining the essence of ingredients while using them inventively to produce the best flavor. Jean-Georges’ chic and intimate dining room was redesigned by Thomas Juul-Hansen, with striking lighting by L’Observatoire. Impeccable service, tableside preparations, and floor-to-ceiling windows with stunning views of Central Park and Columbus Circle all contribute to an unforgettable dining experience. Jean-Georges offers a three-course prix-fixe menu and two six-course tasting menus: a traditional tasting of the chef’s signature dishes, and a seasonal tasting featuring fresh market ingredients.

The food here was good, but the terrace is the best part...really lovely place to sit on a summer evening. Had the snapper and the tuna tartare and enjoyed both very much. Also the warm chocolate cake was divine.

We booked a table for 19:15pm in the restaurant, we arrived a wee bit early and were asked to wait as the people at the table were still finishing dessert. It took until 19:45 for us to be seated. We were kept informed a couple of times during our wait and offered a glass of champagne on the house which... More

On Vacation in NYC, and wanted to go here. And we messed up, we made a reservation for 8:00 (we thought pm) and it was made for am. Our fault... BUT they were amazing. They squeezed us in. I was really happy that they were willing to do that, they didn't have to, but they did. Now to the food.... More

My wife and I used to go to Nougatine all the time because the food can be superb. However, this restaurant, both at breakfast and at dinner, often has some of the worst service of any quality restaurant in NY. At times the service even seems a farce. About a month ago, we had breakfast there with my elderly parents.... More

The food is mostly quite special, with a few items less than wonderful . Prix fixe lunch is still a bit expensive. Shrimp salad & calamari were exquisite, as was thyme&vodka "lemonade". Ginger hake & organic chicken were wonderful, but veal milanese a bit disappointing. Our picky daughter had a cheeseburger which was very humdrum, as expected. Chocolate lava cake... More

Our yearly visit to Nougatine showed that the joint maintains it's superb quality for the last four years: Tuna tartar is superb followed by a red snapper and paired with chateaux Margo red glass. The service is perfect and for us Nougatine is the best.

My wife and I were fortunate to snag reservations a couple of weeks prior to our visit to NYC. Arriving on time, we were promptly seated. The staff was attentive without being either irritated as we examined the menu and wine list nor responding to questions regarding several items we were considering. One pleasant surprise was that they did have... More

So, o.k., I have to admit that Jean Georges is my favorite restaurant in NYC (and my 12 year old Granddaughter's as well), but Nougatine is not far behind! It's a little less formal than Jean Georges, but the food is imaginative, beautifully presented, and service is attentive but not intrusive. Don't miss the fois gras brûlée, and the sweet... More

We had been to Jean Georges for a delicious meal and good service a few years ago. This time, we decided to try Nougatine. What a difference! It's hard to hook a server at this restaurant even though there were many, many uniformed wait-staffers gabbing and hanging out. Also, if you happen to come right on time for your reservation,...
