**note: I am rating the STREET CART, not the restaurant** I've never been to the restaurant, but the street cart (on 5th & 54th? near the Gap) is my FAAAAAVORITE. the combos w/ the potatoes, kraut, onions & sausages all fried together are deeee-licious... good enough to take "to-go" all the way back to California! more
First of all, my coat? Still smells like sausage, er, wurst. That is not such a bad thing, as it make me want to go back. Now. Very, very good food. Service is a bit on the slow side, but once you order, you won't be disappointed! Also, the outdoor "garden" is kinda cool...it's supposed to look like the Berlin Wall before it fell...I think...anyway, it's a cool spot. more
Rating for the order... 5 different types of sausage (it was ok); Spaetzle (could be better); Berliner Goulash Zupe (good, but I would add potatoes instead of bread); Pork Weiner Schnitzel (nothing extraordinary); Radler (it's impossible to make it wrong). This place is pretty small for a beer garden. There's outdoor seating on the street or in a small courtyard in the back, but it can get packed by 6 or 7 in the evening on weeknights. The food isn't as good as Zum Schneider in the Village and the seating not as plentiful as the Czech beer garden in... more
