We wandered into this place after a show off, off Broadway and were looking for some quality to make up for the performance. Boy were we delighted with this restaurant. Chic but at the same time casual, the service was impeccable and the food excellent. The chocolate fondant (I think the menu may have described it as mousse, but it's... More

I last reviewed 44X a few years back. I thought it was time to do it again. Many restaurants get stale over time and the quality goes southbound. Not at 44X. The blue crab fritter and the chicken quesadilla are delicious appetizers. The filet was first rate, cut like butter. And the perfectly chilled dirty martinis with blue cheese stuffed... More

Heard a lot about this restaurant on 10th avenue - convenient to theatres and great food....but, it was convenient but hype about food was somewhat over-rated. Veal medallions overcooked and requested 'black and blue' strip was more like medium. Couldn't send back because of showtime constraints - but meal was perfunctory, at best. Great service however, and delightful staff. Would... More

I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I hadn't read any reviews before making a reservation and this restaurant exceeded my expectations. The decor is simple and elegant with wooden table tops, bud vases with one luscious rose and flickering candlelight giving the white walls a warm glow. The large pane glass windows that wrap around the front offer... More

One of our favorites in the neighborhood. Had a lovely dinner late on Sunday after coming into the city after a week-long retreat. The turkey meatloaf wrapped in bacon (not nearly as gluttonous as it sounds!) was excellent. The service was attentive and the server/waiter had a great attitude throughout. One thing - if you can, avoid the table right... More

Our meal was outstanding! We enjoyed the duck, tilapia, and filet entrees. The starters were quite the introduction to the chef's expertise. The goat cheese puff is highly recommended and not to be missed!. Save room for dessert; especially the berry pie! Enjoy a sunset stroll along the West Side after sampling the ample dinner portions. Dined here with friends and loved the food and service. A nice, elegant restaurant in a bustling neighborhood. I will definitely eat here again before the theatre.

We stopped in around 1:30 for lunch. There were maybe 5 tables seated when we arrived. We were seated straight away and that was the last of anything resembling timely service. Everything was slow motion from there. We get out drinks and some bread and butter. The butter comes in the little silver cups and is completely full and level... More

We were at 44&X for brunch with some friends from out of town. We were seated right under a speaker that was blaring the Back St Boys and some other really loud music. I asked if the music could be turned down or could we be reseated, the waiter said "there's no need to reseat you I'll have it turned... More

My wife and I enjoyed our dinner here. The portions were quite large and the food was tasty. The only negative was my wife’s crab fritter appetizer. It had way too much filler. If they lessened the filler and made a smaller fritter (really a crab cake) it would have worked, but I guess they needed it to be big... More
