Although a bit pricey, all of our food selections were perfectly prepared, and well worth the price. The atmosphere is quite classic and formal, but the ambience is friendly and the guest attire diverse--from tie and jackets to neat jeans. A conversation-friendly restaurant with some wonderful tableside-prepared selections. Caesar Salad, Whole Fish special, Pastas and Zabaglion were all lovely. .... More

I've been dining here forever- as another reviewer said- back to the Mario days (who was fantastic). John and the staff have done a great job carrying on the excellence. Il Tinello continues to be outstanding and continues to be my "go-to" restaurant whenever I am in nyc. I think their caesar salad is "best in world" and shouldn't be... More

Love john and Daniale (server) the best. I've dined here for 20 years back in the Mario days. I thought I would never, ever say this but, it's better now. Food and service are amazing as always. Thanks John for putting up with my drunk friends and being gracious! Lol. I do not agree with the guy in another review... More

Il Tinello , located on 56th St near 5th Avenue, has great Italian food and good service. You can wear anything from very casual to business casual in this restaurant. The veal dishes are standouts--as well as -their fresh pasta and wonderful sauces. Have the homemade Italian cheesecake with whipped cream and strawberries for dessert. Your bill will be over... Great Italian in NYC. The appetizers are great: best burrata I've had. Also enjoyed some fried peppers with fresh anchovy on them. The anchovy was great, not one bit fishy. The food is great and presentation is great. The restaurant is a bit dated and old and looks like it hasn't been updated since 1978, but the food makes up... More

I had no real problem with the restaurant (it was close to our hotel), but there was nothing memorable about it. The food was merely OK, yet it was still quite pricey.

Had a work dinner here, mid week, and the place was jumping! From the moment I walked in the door, the staff treated me (and everyone else who followed) with grace and civility. I had a cocktail at the small bar lounge to the right as you first enter the restaurant (the evidently serve meals at the bar too as... More

The food was great, I had the special appetizer and the special sole fish and it was great. I don;t know about the expense (someone else paid), but I don't think it was cheap.
