Beware of Conventioneers

We live in midtown and the food here is good and the bar is retro and quiet. We went tonight for a drink and dinner. The place was packed to the gills with name tagged conventioneers. The people next to us at the bar were having 3 rye shots ( paying with tickets) then going out to get... read more

Had a wonderful experience here. The staircase and room are worth a visit on their own. Like a movie set, with Picasso's. And food to match. Duck breast was the best ever. Service was professional but not stuffy. Will return later this month.

Liked my pate but it was fairly ordinary. Guinea hen was good. Wife had lobster bisque which had very little flavor. Her rotisserie chicken was just average.

I ate there on Christmas day and although the food was very good, the service was extremely inconsistent...when we were first seated no one approached our table for our drink order or to fill our water glasses for over 10 minutes... I was actually very thirsty so I almost got up to find a server...I would not have expected that... More

We're currently on holiday for the Christmas period having travelled from the UK, London, to spend Christmas here. I would just like to mention that we're in our early 20's having travelled all over the globe, experiencing many a la carte restaurants in London, and so on. So all in all I'd call ourselves proper 'foodie' people. I'd never turn... More

Had the company Holiday party here and never knew the restaurant existed. You enter on 57th and head down a winding stairway. Restaurant has a real nice feel and layout. Wait staff were super attentive and always kept my drink glass full. Food made in bulk sometimes misses the mark, but it was spot on. Chicken was super moist and... More

We decided to spend Thanksgiving day in NYC. We wanted a traditional thanksgiving dinner, so we found Brasserie 8 1/2 on OpenTable. Before dinner, we had drinks (apple spice margarita and the elderflower flute). The dinner was great, service was very quick without being rushed and the ambience was trendy. Everything we had was great, the turkey, crab cake, sweet... More

Like all buffet brunches, some things were better than others. But this restaurant had a lot of choices, in a very nice space, and was a very worthwhile brunch. Remember no mimosa's till noon or 1. It's a bit pricey, but it's Manhattan so not unexpected

Remember : no Mimosas in NYC until after 1PM! Other than that, a nice brunch. Many choices - all good, none unusual or spectacular, but all very good. Nice restaurant: high ceilings, uncrowned, bright. A good choice for brunch.

The owner of this building has taken great personal pride in his restaurant but doesn't go out of his way to advertise or publicize it. Nevertheless, its architecture is perfect, location prime, and food outstanding. Quiet, classy, just the sort of experience New Yorker or a tourist seeks. And not so hard to get a reservation.

Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
