Good meal,would return

I ate here with a big group on business and the service was very good. It can be hard to deal with large tables, but they were great. We ordered just about everything on the menu and there wasn't anything I didn't like. I eat at lots of Indian restaurants and can be a bit picky about the food... read more

As soon as we reached there with our baby, they told that we don't have high chair. We were ok with that but as we entered, we were treated like a slave. The staff was very rude and it seems that they were doing some kind of favor by taking our order. We had to leave in middle of ordering... More

$17 gets you access to an extensive lunch buffet. The naan was light and fluffy. The Dhigari Mutter (peas, onions & mushrooms) was my favorite dish. The Chicken Tikka Masala was delicious. The tandoori chicken was a little dry. The only thing I didn't care for was the tzatziki. Rice pudding and fruit custard were offered for desert- both delicious.... More

I just ate at Sapphire for the second time and really like this restaurant. The setting is nice and the food is excellent. The menu was more varied than many Indian restaurants in the city. I highly recommend the salmon Saag (cooked in a story and creamy spinach-based sauce). The restaurant is a short walk from Columbus Circle and also... More

This place does have the atmosphere of New York more than India. I think the layout could of been more appealing. I do like the fact that unlike so many restaurants in the city, the tables aren't all pushed up against each other. I found the food very good, and the service was fine.

Well the title says it all. The food is to die for -- but if you're a sticler for cleanliness -- well keep it moving. The prices are a bit high also. --- but the food really feels good going down -- but when you get a glimpse of the kitchen -- you want to bring up the food...ouch

If you want mediocre to poor food for astronomical prices, this is the place for you. $16 for a vegetarian entree that doesn't even come with rice? And naan bread that tastes like it's from a grocery store.

I appreciate your feedback regarding your recent experience. At Sapphire, we aim to provide or customers good food and good service, and we sorry that you feel as though we missed the mark this time. Our lunch buffet is very popular during the week, and most will agree that the prices are very reasonable for the area. We do hope... More

Sapphire is one of the best among several Indian restaurants I've tried in NYC. Good menu and offers lots of little extra's that make Indian food such a delight. Nice setting, too and sufficiently quite so it is usually possible to carry on a conversation there (all too rare in many NY places). Everything is also very professional thanks to... More

I had the mixed tandoori platter for dinner and it was excellent - it had lamb, chicken, vegetables and shrimp. Be forewarned, rice and naan bread are not included and that added to the cost of an already expensive ($26) entree (but this is midtown Manhattan, after all). The order of naan ($5) came with only two pieces, hardly a... More

Coming from London I'm accustomed to good Indian food, and Indian restaurants in New York can sometimes fall short. Happily, Sapphire is an exception. The food is delicious, and the service, while not fawning, is professional and efficient. For vegetarians, the tandoori vegetable entree is a large and satisfying main dish; my friends had the lamb saag and chicken korma,... More
