Nice Place, Good Food

We stopped here for an early dinner while in vacation for a few days in NYC and enjoyed our meals. Good atmosphere and service.

Something has changed with the restaurant, the name is now New Topaz and the food is not that great. Recent reviews have been poor and that should have been a sign. And the service was very strange, I ordered the red curry and they gave it without rice. Did they expect me to have it like a soup? All Thai... More

Excellent food. Spicy but flavorful. Cute, vibrant, small, casual, local restaurant central to midtown NYC. Sat in front window seat.

We have eaten at Topaz at least 10 times over the last 5 years and have never been disappointed. The coconut/curry dishes are delicious. Very little wait time for food to be delivered and servers were generally courteous. Great value for the price!

Delicious food. peanut curry... meats, pinapple rice, spicey etc. ACHE, the waiter was very patient and accommodating with our group of 8, including children. Small, cozy place. reasonable prices. But, bathrooms were dirty and smelly.

Giving tips are customary as a sign of gratuity for service rendered by an individual to its patrons but when it is forced upon it is coercion and depicts the sole purpose called "gratuity". This is exactly what staff at this hole in the wall restaurant do. After having dinner at this restaurant,we watched 2 customers seated beside us left... More

Nice small Resturant that serves authentic green curry beef. Well priced and would go back for more. The pad Thai was okay. They serve some nice shrimp chips to get the taste buds going. Very good sized portions no scrimping.

New Topaz is small and cozy. The service is excellent and they are more than happy to 'tone down' the heat on their dishes for those who prefer it on the mild side. Two people at our table preferred it that way and two of us liked some heat. We all were very satisfied with our dishes, For appetizers we... More

Our friends took us to this restaurant. They said it was named Topaz when they were in NYC a few years ago. It is not a very large place so reservations are suggested. We shared the coco calamari, deep fried spring rolls, whole deep fired snapper, and chicken with peanut sauce. All were tasty with Thai beer.

We ordered pad thai chicken, green curry shrimp, crying tiger (beef dish), pra lad prik (red snapper dish), chicken satay and coco calamari. All tasted delicious except for the following comments: - the shrimps were kind of small - the beef were just a few pieces - the veggies in the dishes were not authentic Thai Service was prompt and... Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
