Facelifted and just as great

It has been a couple of years since we were last here, so the interior has had some attention, and the menu has been revamped - and the high standards prevail. For grilled fish and meat it is hard to beat, generous portions, freshly cooked vegetables; a good wine selection and a warm welcoming... read more

This was my wifes favourite restaurant when she lived and worked in NJ/NY. It's where we go when we are in town with something to celebrate. This time we took our friends with us who were on their first trip to NYC. This remains an incredible place to eat - terrfiic food, fine wines, killer coctails and excellent, attentive staff.... More than $100 for the wrong cut of meat topped with the wrong sauce, with two sides - one inedibly salty, the other a "side for four people" of potato after I asked for small (embarrassing) I ate the steak in a hurry, left everything else. The guy behind the bar said something like "I didn't charge you for the... More

This place was recommended by our hotel and first impressions were good, nice atmosphere, polite staff and entertainment. We ordered the steamed lobster which was a mistake it was so overcooked the shell crackers couldn't even break the shell as it was like soft plastic and bendy (the texture of the shell was like that of plastic drinking straws) and... My wife and I had an hour to while away before we departed Midtown for LaGuardia, and by luck we happened into this elegant, bright restaurant. We sometimes have found a chilly greeting when we stop for "appetizers and a glass of wine," but the Redeye Grill greeter and waiter were as welcoming if we planned to order full meals.... More

last few hours in NYC, had just walked past the Russian Tea Room, dark and looking abandoned inside, rude staff, and so glad we cancelled that reservation... Only to find around the corner from Carnegie Hall our "Atlantis" restaurant. We stepped in and were elegantly received and accommodated to a window table. Isa, our incredible waiter appeared, and suggested a... More

My company had a dinner at the Redeye grill. The cocktails and appetizers were very good. The short ribs were wonderful. The room upstairs has large windows which made for a very pleasant ambiance. The dinner was efficiently served and wine glasses were filled. The service was excellent. Would definitely recommend.

Great selection of steaks and seafood, the East Coast oysters were superb. The portions are huge with my ribeye steak taking up most of my plate. One portion of fries between two was far too much! It is a lively atmosphere with the live music being a major plus. Service was good and very 'New York'. Pricey but probably worth... More

They specialize in seafood but even a vegetarian like me is happy at Redeye Grill. I go regularly and am always happy. Don't miss the world class live piano and bass jazz in the evenings and the great art in the various themed rooms, especially "The Living Room" which is like a museum.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
