Picholine, across from Lincoln Center, is an elegant, understated gem in the upper echelon of Upper West Side restaurants. The menu is imaginative without being trendy (thank goodness). Whatever appeals to you is recommendable. The night we were there Scottish game birds were being featured. That meant red-legged partridge, grouse, wood pigeon and other "exotic" fowl. I started with a... More

Food price/quality ratio acceptable. Otherwise in every aspect tormenting suprises. Seating very interesting considering almost empty dining room. Sommelier not on the map. Meny order confused. Some members of the Staff including a senior attendee saw everything But were not able to prevent all misconduct. Most import: we were referred four times about out theatre beginning schedule in good advance... More

We were there (three couples) to celebrate one 11th Anniversary and one 50th Anniversary - rare occasions. The food and service were stellar although the Sommelier needs to search more diligently for excellent quality wines at a more reasonable price - they do exist. Such diligent, unobtrusive service can only be imagined in this day and age, but demonstrably displayed... More

My husband and I recently visited NYC and we chose this restaurant based on the fact it just received its first Michelin Star. We had a wonderful experience. We had the 5 course tasting menu with wine pairings. My favorite dishes were the pumpkin bisque and the rib eye. Delicious! We waited a few minutes between courses which I actually... More

After all these years, this is still a top destination restaurant. The uni panna cotta is as bracing as a dip in a tidal pool, the game is appropriately gamy, the cheese cart legandary, the service attentive. Of course, you have to be in the mood. The 5-course tasting menu (supplemented by at least four amuse bouches and intermezzos) took... More

likes: food quality high[has gotten back one of it's michelin stars], very well-paced[not too fast] quality service, elegant and comfortable atmosphere dislikes:modest quantity of food......inadequate really for $130 5 course prix fixe menu; wine list is very pricey[my guesstimate is that less than 5% of the bottles are under $100]......much prefer "the modern" and "marea" where we ate for the... The restaurant is lovely and the food was outstanding but the total dinner experience did not work. We had to ask for both a menu and bread, there was no warmth from the servers, apart from the charming oriental sommelier and the service was exceptionally slow despite the restaurant being only 60% occupied. This restaurant obviously has a first class kitchen... More

Have visited 4 times over last 8 years and found the food to be consistently excellent. Don't forget the cheese. The service can be a little snooty and remote and unfortunately the wine list seems to heading for the stratosphere. Don't forget the cheese. There used to be some well priced Australian and Chilean reds on the list, but they've... More

Everything was wonderful. The atmosphere was very elegant, but not stuffy. The noise level was a perfect low hum. The wait staff was very good and knowledgeable. Each course was exquisite. The final cheese course was just the topper. It is not inexpensive, but worth every penny and very memorable.

My wife went to please me, but quickly became a fan of the beautiful atmosphere and personable wait staff. We ordered different choices on the 5-course tasting dinner and began our flavor journey. The wait staff brought out little bites to try in between courses and as stated in other reviews the cheese cart is not to be missed. After... More
