Description: Under the guidance of the Livanos family and Co-Owner Paul McLaughlin...
Under the guidance of the Livanos family and Co-Owner Paul McLaughlin, Oceana has provided New Yorkers with an exceptional seafood destination since 1992. Oceana's a la carte menu, coupled with its convenient Midtown/Theater District location, make it a perfect spot for a quick business lunch or pre-theater dinner. From the spectacular marble bar to the fresh lobsters and whole fish cooked to order, as well as a significant selection of prime meats, Executive Chef Ben Pollinger delivers a fresh, innovative and approachable menu. Oceana has a 70 seat Cafe with a 18 seat marble bar. Great for lunch, after work cocktails & snacks, pre-theater dinner and post-theater desserts. An award winning international wine list with some 800 selections. Spring and Summer bring a 75 seat outdoor dining area, private dining options include our Chef's table for 4 to our Grand Salon for 80. Please indicate in the Special Requests box if you will be attending Theater.

Good fish restaurant in Theatre district - fine dining and service

Cool, classic restaurant with (mostly) excellent service. The Pre-theatre menu is a real bargain (at $49 each) - BUT two of the oysters they served were inedible! (mushy/milky - not up to par for a fish restaurant with an extensive oyster selection). The server/captain were NOT very... read more

Dinner ~ just the two of us… in midtown New York City. Deep into the hustle and bustle of the big metropolis where everything goes and anything goes… Located off 6th Avenue and across the street from City Lobster (another great seafood place) this grand and luxurious old family establishment stands out for it’s great food and service ethic.. which... I have dined at Oceana in the past and have always had a good experience. I decided to bring my mother for her birthday last week-- what a mistake. We were seated by a friendly - enough hostess and given menus. When our waiter arrived, all went downhill. He was rude, unfriendly and cold. It ruined our whole experience in... More

Three of us went to Oceana for seafood one evening while visiting New York. The service was excellent, the setting was nice and we were able to walk to and from our hotel. My wife and I had a half lobster and the other in our party had a whole lobster. We had started with a chilled seafood platter. Everything... More

It's not easy to find a restaurant in Theater District with available table at 10 pm. Oceana just saved our day. Nice seafood and good ambiance, excellent service. Was worth the stop!

We enjoyed a lovely meal with friends. The service was friendly and efficient, the fish beautifully prepared, cooked and presented. The ambience could have been improved to make it really special.

Many rave on review sites about this place. Chose it as a place to entertain some VIPs who enjoy seafood and its a challenge to pick when right across the street is a place named "City Lobster". We easily made a reservation online, and arrived quite early with apologies, but were accommodated nicely. The place is large for an in... More

We stopped in a few weeks ago for dinner. The food was great; the service was excellent; and, the ambiance is casual but elegant. My wife had scallops and I had lobster. Both meals were wonderful. Definitely a place I would return to on our next visit to NYC.

The food was good, no atmosphere, the services could have been better. Had a hard time finding the place and I had the address. The scallops were good, but I have had them better. The appetizer, we ordered a seafood tower was to much for two people.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
