General Tsao's Lobster! Pricey but Delicious

A great meal as always (I've been to Oceana many times). I had a simple meal - garden salad and General Tsao's Lobster. Both were delicious and well done. The service was attentive but not obtrusive and all who served us were helpful and pleasant. All in all, a great meal and worth the money.

My GF and I had an appointment after work in this part of town so we decided to make a reservation at Oceana as it looked terrific and was easy to get to when we were done. As I said in the title the food was great and it was. The wine was good too and the wine selection is... More

Pretty dining roo, but food only okay. Calamari was good. Kung Poa lobster was okay but too spicy for one diner. Not a fan of the forbidden rice. Blackened fish was too spicy for another diner. Service sporadic. Close to theater but would not return. Too expensive for quality.

Had made reservations at another restaurant when we met someone at a deli who informed us the place we were going was bad and over priced. So she called the Oceana and got us a reservation. The food was not bad, the service was good, but my complaint is this: Oceana scammed us for close to $500 for a meal... More

This is a nice looking restaurant not far from the Broadway theaters. I had a delicious meal there. My appetizer was crab meat croquettes ($19). My main course was taro-wrapped dorade, the signature dish of the restaurant ($38). This restaurant has gotten one Michilin star for at least 7 consecutive years.

We walked in off the street on Saturday night before Wolf Hall, and they were able to seat us near the kitchen. (It was loud but private.) We did the prix fixe menu, with wine pairings, and it was good and relatively reasonable. We had the hamachi tartare, which was very good; the market fish; and I had the passionfruit... More

This place never disappoints. It has a classic New York vibe. bustling, good, slick service and lovely surroundings a bit like the oyster bar in Grand Central but better! the stack was great value as were the lobster options and my daughter and I had a great time. this must be my 3rd visit at least and I will continue... The food was fantastic. The food is a 4, but the value is a 2. The very small amount of food we ordered late one evening was so very good, but so very expensive.

This dish is the reason I always go back to Oceana. Spicy, yet eatable. Great atmosphere to have a drink after 8pm, full of interesting people. I have also had the sea food platter, very fresh and nice

Mostly seafood, with some original creations on a menu that, refreshingly changes seasonally. A bit pricey, but service is attentive and food is fresh, even if every dish is not totally successful.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
