Excellent Seafood in Midtown!

A big bustling pricey Manhattan standard for upscale ( no pun intended) seafood. Nice piece of halibut but bland, but cauliflower purée was superb. General Tzao lobster, batter and sauce completely overpowers the lobster. Location is convenient to the theaters.

I dined in Oceana last night with three friends and we enjoyed an outstanding experience. Every morsel of the meal was spectacular. We ordered a wide range of dishes from across the menu and each was superb. The restaurant's reputation for seafood is richly deserved but my main of fillet mignon was equally superb. The service was also extremely impressive.... More

A great restaurant before heading out to Broadway. We were here during restaurant week and used their theatre week selections. The food was outstanding. The only thing about this restaurant make sure you let them know you are heading to the theatre and give yourself 1 1/2 hours.

We had dinner at the bar and got here early since we have a show. Had the crab croquettes....meh. Shrimp cocktail was good...but that's a though one to mess up. The shrimp were huge! Bartender was very friendly. We got the lobster stuffed with crab and the shrimp entree. The shrimp entree with a saffron sauce description sounded great but... More

We came here during a short trip to NYC. The atmosphere was nice, but a little noisy as we were seated close to the bar area. We decided on a selection of raw oysters to share, which were fabulous. Our entrees were also very good, some interesting flavours. I would recommend it. Service was good.

Dinner ~ just the two of us… in midtown New York City. Deep into the hustle and bustle of the big metropolis where everything goes and anything goes… Located off 6th Avenue and across the street from City Lobster (another great seafood place) this grand and luxurious old family establishment stands out for it’s great food and service ethic.. which... Cool, classic restaurant with (mostly) excellent service. The Pre-theatre menu is a real bargain (at $49 each) - BUT two of the oysters they served were inedible! (mushy/milky - not up to par for a fish restaurant with an extensive oyster selection). The server/captain were NOT very accommodating about exchanging them -kept asking "what was wrong with them" (duh...already explained... More

I have dined at Oceana in the past and have always had a good experience. I decided to bring my mother for her birthday last week-- what a mistake. We were seated by a friendly - enough hostess and given menus. When our waiter arrived, all went downhill. He was rude, unfriendly and cold. It ruined our whole experience in... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
