Great stop for a shopping day

Whenever I go to New York I make sure to save sometime in a shopping day to have a late lunch at SFA. Even though it is located inside the shoe department of Saks, it feels great sitting down at this cafe. The ambiance is calm and is almost an oasis in the bubbling NYC. If you sit in the... read more

Went here the first time in January and was so impressed with the absence, the food and the service I'd been waiting to return! While they have a full, lovely menu, the fixed price 21.00 lunch is perfect! In this part of town, finding a nice lunch spot can be challenging if you need to stay near Rock Center. Well,... More

We ate a late light lunch here in the middle of a shopping day. Great salads and sandwiches and the location can't be beat if your wife is in the Saks shoe department.

We were shopping and looking at the Christmas windows on 5th Avenue and needed lunch. We did not have to wait and sat at a table overlooking St. Patrick's Cathedral. We had the lunch combination of soup, half sandwich, and small salad. All three were delicious and seasonal. The waitress was efficient and pleasant. We enjoyed it so much, that... More

This was Christmas week, when everyone is busy. We were hungry and were told by store staff about this restaurant. Actually, two different staffers gave us info on different floor locations, as if no one really knew where things were located. When we arrived, the young woman standing near the sign, who said she was there just for the day,... More

Well, a real treat ... Dinner at Saks ! Fabulous lobster rolls and salad, not forgetting the chips ! Sadly, service was terribly slow.... Couldn't catch the eye of anyone to take our order, and it took nearly an hour for the food to arrive when we did eventUally order ...They were busy, but not rushed off their feet. However,... More

Had lunch today at this cafe in the 8th floor of Saks. Very busy but service was very efficient. Great salads! Worth a visit for a nice lunch.

There are still some folks who think of a department store restaurant as a throw back to a bygone era with out of date, or predictable food offerings. The flagship Saks 5th Avenue offers this full service restaurant with an up to date vibe, and food. The cafe is located on the 8th floor, and a section of tables overlooks... More

This is an OK venue located inside Saks Fifth Avenue. This is the full-service restaurant up on the 8th floor. It's very busy (like most other restaurants inside department stores in New York) so reservations are a big help (but not required if you don't mind waiting; but who does when one's hungry, right?). The food for the most part... More

After you work you way up to the 8th floor and on the 5th Avenue side of the store there behind the shimmering silver curtain is the cafe. I had stumbled upon a review of this place as a "hidden gem". The hidden part is correct, I am not so sure about the gem. I had hoped for a spectacular... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
