Blizzard January 2016

We had lunch there on Sunday January 24th after the blizzard of 2016. Sat by the window but unfortunately all the snow blocked the view of Rockefeller center. Our waiter was very nice, think he was one of the only ones to make it in during the snowstorm. My daughter asked for hot chocolate and he... read more

My daughter and I decided to take a break and have lunch at Cafe SFA located on the upper floor of Saks Fith Avenue. We were seated right away and we were offered a glass of Prosecco which hit the spot. The dining room was beautifully furnished in a French style which made one feel you were in Paris instead... We were given a gift certificate to have lunch at Cafe SFA and looked forward to a pre-matinee experience. Shades of my high school cafeteria! The noise of diners trying to be heard was deafening. While our waiter was extraordinary, the food was not. The simple lunch was just that "simple" and without much taste,.We tried the flourless chocalate cake... More

This is on the 8th floor of Saks and has great views of 5th Ave if you could get anywhere near a window (very unlikely)! Went 11 dec and it was packed! Small tables close together don't help the small army of wait staff trying to work...Getting waited on took time of course . When we asked about napkins, the... More

The restaurant is in Saks on the 8th floor. Their are views of St. Patrick's Cathedral (not unobstructed) and Fifth Ave. Lunch was good. I had crab and corn chowder which was lukewarm but my friends had a lentil soup which they raved about. I also had a half sandwich of chicken salad on raisin bread. Unfortunately the menu did... I just love Café SFA. From the welcoming maître d' who always asks, “How are you?” to the beautiful view of Rockefeller Center rooftops and Fifth Avenue, to the unflagging excellence of Jaclyn, my favorite server, it’s the best for lunch in midtown. http://cafesfa.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Cafe-sfa_Lunch.pdf The special includes a half sandwich (tuna or chicken salad) and a cup of their famous... When I’m in NYC for a visit, I try to have lunch at the café before shopping. The café is on the same floor as women’s shoes. So, if you don’t want to get distracted, it’s best to walk quickly and look straight ahead on your way to the café. The service is what you would expect from Saks. During... More

Environment is really relaxing and greeted with high quality of service. What I would recommend is the Lobster Salad and the Halibut. I would definitely go back again for the Lobster Salad.

A really nice lunch spot behind the huge shoe floor of SAKS. Delicious crab cake and lobster salad for me The bread basket is a nice mix including fruit and walnut bread and a pretzel croissant. Speedy service too for those on a short lunch break.

Look, it's Saks - it's going to be expensive. But, the food is fresh, service is great, and if you can, make a reservation so you can sit overlooking Rockefeller Center. It really is worth it, the food is that good.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
