We Came for Drinks, But Stayed for Dinner

The drinks were good, though they were lacking the variety of gin one of my companions wanted in her martini. And our sidewalk table was excellent for people-watching, one of my fondest activities when I visit New York. What wasn't cool was that the waiter was so preoccupied with talking to a... read more

Stayed at the King & Grove Hotel adjoining this restaurant so one evening decided to eat here for convenience as we were tired. Arrived at about 10pm to be asked "are you eating here??" by the waiter in a disappointed and hassled tone. Quite shocking really seeing as this is New York City and everything is open til late. Not... More

Despite the generally average reviews we gave it a go as it was next to our hotel. Should have left well alone. A smile by anyone serving in the restaurant would not have gone a miss. The food was very average and there was little ambiance. Without it being noted on the menu prior to eating we were hit with... More

For many years while staying at the hotel where Zana is located, we have eaten at this restaurant. The owner is usually on premises and all of the people who work for him are fantastic as well. I love their Pasta Bolognese, one of the best in New York. the prices are very reasonable and the experience is very pleasant... More

Just walking by and the menu which was posted outside sounded good. I sat at the bar which had a crowd of regulars all engaged in conversation. The bartender seemed to be the owner. She was terrific, provided great service and conversation. I had the Chicken Parm which was not the best I have ever had but still very good.... More

Found Zana as a recommendation from our concierge at the Hilton Garden Inn. We told him we were up for some good Italian food but didn't want to pay a premium. He immediately recommended Zana and provided directions. The restaurant itself is well decorated with high ceilings and windows that open up to the street. The decor was cozy and... More

I went for breakfast as it has an "open door" to the hotel in which I stayed. First, English is not the first language of any employee. My eggs were good poorly, the poatoes were old and gross and there was hair on my plate. When I ordered oatmeal instead, I received hot milk and some oats. Horrible.

Good points The atmoshere was cosy and slightly dark The meny choice was interesting and the food was tasty as was the puds. Bad points One waitress did not understand the menu. Continually asked if we wanted drinks Waiter kept pouring our drinks we did not want him hovering. The sweets, although very tasty, were small. Lastly when the bill... More

We had our breakfast at this restaurant while staying at the King and Grove. We found it nice and quiet, a good start of the day before heading off to sightseeing. We also had our nightcap in the bar, and the barkeeper makes great drinks! Best of all the restaurant had outdoor seating, which we found to be a rare... More

Thoroughly enjoyed lunch at this Murray Hill Italian restaurant with a colleague from the UK Ravioli entrée, grilled rainbow trout entrée, two small well-made salads, bottle of Chianti, and two espressos was $115 including tax and tip. All tasty and fresh ingredients. Will return. Tip: during nicer weather, sit near the open front looking over 30th Street. If you think... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
