as a vegetarian...

this place is absolutely amazing! I had the crispy tofu sushi and had to order a few extra orders. HIGHLY recommended for vegans, vegetarians, and anyone else looking for a meatless, delicious meal.

We were looking for a veggie restaurant within walking distance of Grand Central, and we made a great choice! The menu, the ambience, the waitstaff all exceeded expectations. Although not everyone in our party was a vegetarian, we all found wonderful options on the expansive menu. The fixed price dinner was very worthwhile; otherwise, we might not have taste the... More

We ended up here because HanGawi could not fit us into their expected onslaught of people with reservations (although the restaurant was almost empty when we arrived). This was originally disappointing because I had really enjoyed a meal at HanGawi several months ago and wanted to go there with my husband. We definitely enjoyed our meal here. The menu had... More

My daughter and I were blown away by the delicious and fresh vegetarian bowls of food. Don't be put off that there are no other restaurants around. We were there for pre theater and early. The restaurant filled up and we had order envy. Veggies, check it out.

I loved the low-light atmosphere and the friendly welcome at Franchia, and it was possible to have an enjoyable dinner even though I was dining on my own (in the context of a business trip). I had vegetable dumplings with chilli dipping sauce, followed by pho noodle soup with vegan 'beef'. It was all tasty and light, but I regretted... More

We were directed to this place by the hotel and it was stunning which was incredibly lucky for a birthday dinner! We managed to go back before the end of the trip too. It does get busy so think about booking if you are going to foolish like us and go out at peak times! The Plum tea was gorgeous... More

We spent some time recently in New York, and both of us are vegetarian so were on the lookout for an alternative to the "normal" restaurants in New York. We found Franchia through some luck I guess, and what a wonderful find it was! Its a smallish restaurant, but it has a very good menu with plenty of selection, and... More

Franchia has so many menu dining options it's difficult to choose what to get, but in a good way. From tapas to prix fix to sushi to a regular entree your meal can be whatever your mood at the moment decides. I opted for an entree of curry vegan chicken in a sizzling hot stone bowl- super flavorful. My husband... More

The food is good (I ate the Ramen noodle soup) and the prices are decent compare to NY. My Vegan friend really liked the place and swear to come back.

This is my favourite spot for tea in NYC. The interior design is unlike anything in NY, and it is easy to allow your mind to forget it's in one of the busiest cities in the world. I love places that are able to create a calm space in the midst of the insanity that is New York - it's... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
