A great choice for Italian on East 34th Street

We were in NYC the end of September and searched a restaurant for 4 of us. We sought a restaurant online that had a good reputation, and we wanted Italian. Without a reservation, we walked up to Villa Berulia, which was about 4 blocks from our hotel. Apparently, it was the owner that greeted us... read more

Excellent food but service was rushed. Casual atmosphere. Would definitely recommend for authentic Italian food.

What a treat. The food is very good, bordering on outstanding. We shared an antipasto and Caesar's salad, both quite good. Lamb shanks and grilled tuna followed. The lamb was amoung the best I've had in the US - tasty and tender in a wonderful sauce. The accompanying gnocchi was just OK. The tuna was prepared perfectly! The service was... More

Old style NYC Italian restaurant with great food, white linens and good service. Great for lunch or dinner, nice wine selection.

What a nice place. Warm greeting as you walk in and very nice intimate setting. Owners on site. Waiters friendly and food selection ample. Enjoy great wine and good food. Price is somewhat upscale but fair. You can carry on a nice conversation as well. Well located (near Hotel Affinia Dumont). Also can handle small groups in the back. I've... More

Nothing nouveau, trendy or eye catching here -- and that's a good thing if you are looking for a sedate, comfortable, somewhat upscale place with a warm welcome. The food is good, but not great. I had a very ordinary glass of the house pinot grigio. The scallops, clams and branzini were decent, but rather bland. The highlight was the... More

Although the initial impression was not as warm and welcoming, it pretty soon warmed up with excellent service and food. It was our first time here and we went along with some of the food and all the wine recommendations and were not disappointed.

I went to many restaurants while in New York and this was the best. The atmosphere, the people, and the food. I enjoyed everyting.

Picked this restaurant as it was close to our hotel. Very nice staff, good atmosphere and the food was fine although not very memorable. $130 with a bottle of wine for two of us, OK but nothing exceptional (I was about to say "To write home about" but that is exactly what i am doing!

I wish I could claim credit for discovering this delightful restaurant, but we went to Villa Berulia based on some online recommendations. We were extremely happy we did so! Villa Berulia combines great food, fine wine, sincere welcome, expert service, and an atmosphere that manages to be both romantic and family-friendly (no easy thing). My husband and I both enjoyed... Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
