A unique Indian experience

A very unique restaurant serving Gujarati Indian food. The food is delicious. And make sure you come with an empty stomach--you are going to need all the room you can spare.

My husband and I love this restaurant for it quirkiness - it looks like an Indian village square inside and you take your shoes off to sit at low tables around a large tree on the ground floor. It's great to go to with a group of friends. Set priced menu with table service. Beautifully presented food and you are... More

This is a must if you are visiting NYC and you like Indian food. Loved the ambiance and the food. One of the best tasting Gujarati food I have had in the US.

One of the most authentic and amazing vegetarian place to eat. If you are a foodie and loves to eat indian food , this is a right place to visit. Entire menu is a delicacy on its own.

Being Indian, my family makes a lot of Indian food at home, so I know when I've had good food at a restaurant. The food is some of the best Indian food I've ever had. And initially, I wasn't too thrilled about going to an vegetarian restaurant. The décor was very unique and colorful. The experience was authentic. If you... More

Outstanding Indian cuisine with great service. This restaurant utilizes the concept of 'thali'. Fairly common concept to people of South Asian descent. if you are looking for that true authentic experience this place should be high on your list. The restaurant is true to its name, with the plate settings to the ambience every part of it reminds you of... More

By far the best Gujarati thali i've had in the U.S. Also at $32/person, it's the most expensive, but the whole experience of dining in a great atmosphere and ambiance made it worthwhile. The staff were smiling and welcoming. The food was mouthwatering,, starting with appetizer thali complete with 8 different appetizers, followed by the main course thali with veggies,... More

Vatan is one of those NY places you would walk by if you just noticed it on the street, but be sure not to. When you enter this Indian vegetarian establishment, you are transported to a peaceful Indian courtyard (presided over by a giant Ganesh). With a lovely atmosphere, and excellent food, this is restaurant is sure to please. Vatan... More

Had dinner yesterday with a group of 8 other friends. There is an unlimited all you can eat thali or plate option where all of us ran into serious problems of restraint and saying no even when the stomach was full. We are a multi national bunch was this is an achievement. There is a wide variety and you can... More

We are regulars here at Vatan. It is the best Gujrati Thali in New York City and probably the East coast. When I lived in D.C. I would travel all the way to go to Vatan for their delicious unlimited thali. LOVE this place!
