Description: "...Fagiolini's warm decor--amber walls and still-life paintings--provides a handsome showcase for some of Midtown's finest trattoria dishes. Travelers and neighborhood residents have kept this place busy since 1986..." --cuisine.net "...the assertive Penne Arrabbiata with bits of spicy sausage and Calamari Fritti with an incendiary fra diavola sauce are perfect examples of this trattoria's lusty and unpretentious style...the Chicken with Wild Mushrooms is simply catnip for Portobella mushroom lovers. Neighborhood residents, local business people and tourists from area hotels keep this gem humming through lunch and dinner....as if this bustling bistro didn't have enough going for it, most entrees with a salad are in the $10 to $15 range. --The American Express Collection

House of Lasagna (HOL) comes in two settings: the sidewalk level (entrance on Lex) is (I am told) pretty much a cafeteria style setting. We ate at "La Stanza of HOL". Gain entrance around the corner on 39th and go up the outside stairs. Here it's white table cloth and a step up in menu and beverage options. The nicer... More

Really enjoyed our meal which was right across from our hotel. Quick excellent pasta. Cosmos and martinis were only $5.00. They weren't large but excellent. It is a very cozy place. Only drawback was the manager/owner was in the back trying to reconcile checks and was having an issue which didn't add to the atmosphere but the excellent servers, service,... More

I've been watching a lot of The Garfield Show and it made me in the mood for lasagna, so naturally when we saw this place right down the street from our hotel we had to try it! It was so incredible! I actually ordered the spaghetti and meatballs, and my husband ordered the lasagna and we split both. It was... More

Was a little hesitant to dine here as it looked quite old fashioned from the outside. But I must say that my meal was the best Italian meal I have ever had, my wife also thoroughly enjoyed her meal. Highly recommended.

I went for dinner and was very surpised with some well cooked and tasty pasta. I tried the house specialty (lasagna) and my whife had raviolli... we loved it! We'll come back for sure. Quick service was a plus that night as well.

We dropped in for their 20 minute lunch, we're seated immediately, munched on some nice crusty and fresh bread with olive oil while awaiting our lasagna bolognese. It was exactly as expected, and we had our check in exactly 20 minutes. As advertised!!!

We were staying nearby and had decided to try this one evening. No booking and the place was jammed, though someone was finishing up and we were seated. 2 guys runnings this little room very efficiently ! keeping it simple. Garlic with a hint of bread was served, only one beer available ( Peroni) and we both had the house... More

My wife and I were staying at the Shelburne on Murray Hill and had eaten at our favorite restaurant from our old Gramercy Neighborhood, Molly's Shebeen that afternoon. As the night went on we realized we had to have something to eat again and trying to avoid the hotel based restaurant , walked up Lex and as my wife stopped... More

I stopped in for dinner and I have to say it wasn't good.....at all. The lasagna had very little flavor. I always thought lasagna couldn't be bad, but whoa. I ended up throwing it away including the bread clearly out of a box/bag. I also order the tiramisu... It was ok. Not the best I've ever had but not as... More
