Good Vegetarian Option

If you are looking for really good vegetarian Korean food then this is a great option. You could call the flavors subtle and delicate, but some might call it bland. Service was pretty good, but they kind of balked when I asked for hot sauce, like I was offending the chef or something. Also, they... read more

So my wife and I were pretty excited to go here. We were in town for the weekend, are vegetarians and looked up best vegetarian restaurants and this one fit the bill. Until it didn't. First, they have a B Sanitary rating from the city department of health. It's hard to not get an A rating and you really have... More

Enter and remove your shoes. Walk along the floor, which also serves as the seating benches and slide your feet down below a recessed area underneath the table. The servers will also walk across the seating area and may gracefully sit down next to you while serving you. Room is dark and soothing. A selection of Korean cocktails that those... More

As you first walk in and take off your shoes, one are taken by the serene ambiance. The earthenware and wood bowls, plates and platters that the dishes are serve in are gorgeous. The plating of the food, the decor and architecture of restaurant are superlative. Our service on the other hand was less than "impeccable" (as an other reviewer... More

Went there for dinner with great expectations. The very first thing the hostess said "you have to leave in 45 minutes to accommodate reserved guest" which was a turn off. The rice dish I ordered took 30 minutes, hardly had any taste and was $30. My son had the pumpkin pancakes and they were tasty. This is a noisy, uncomfortably... More

We went for lunch after a trip up the Empire State Building which is close by. Excellent service. Perfectly tasting food we went for spicy. The set lunch menu was a reasonable $35. Highly recommended are the juices or teas. Well worth a visit.

I and my wife love Indian Veg cuisine but my daughter in law persuaded us to try something different. She booked a dinner table for 5 at Hangawi. And what a beautiful experience it turned out to be. Place. Located in midtown Manhattan. You remove your footwear before proceeding to table. You have to squat to get to your seat.... More

We arrived in New York fairly late, and were looking for something hearty but good. Hangawi was different than normal Korean, in that everything's vegan, which suited my vegan wife and me just fine. The ambience was very nice, the service was excellent and the food was extremely high quality. The appetizer was amazing. The main course was very, very... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
