Excellent food, loved taking my shoes off

I really enjoyed my lychee martini to start, and the house white was also very good. I got the spicy noodles with kale and mushrooms and my friend got the avocado bibimbap. Both were delicious and we didn't leave any behind! Right amount of spice for me- not too hot and the cool noodles were... read more

This place is the worst Korean poser restaurant I've ever been to. It clearly targets people who have no taste buds or concept of Korean. If you feel like eating overpriced food in very small quantities that tastes like dried up shoe sole while sitting on the floor with your ankles and knees in pain, this is the place for... More

I loved this whole experience. I've never really eaten Korean food but needed a vegetarian restaurant for a client (this is Vegan). I found this on Yelp. I didn't know what to expect but was amazed the entire time. The hostess takes your shoes upon arrival and you dine on mats on the floor. There's enough room for your legs... More

I Googled the best vegan restaurants in NYC before travelling to NYC and this was mentioned on a blog. Food is amazing and the waiters/waitresses are quick but helpful. Lovely, authentic Korean atmosphere. Highly recommended for vegan-loving or Korean-loving foodies

Never expect that Korean cuisine can offer so many wonderful vegetarian dishes. We were very lucky to call in last minute and get a booking. Just walking in its a different experience in this fairly dark restaurant with beautiful homey Korean Interior touches. Overall a great dinner experience!

Loved our visit to Hangawi. From the moment we stepped inside the well-decorated, darkened, relaxed environment and removed our shoes, I suspected we were in for a memorable evening! I was not wrong. Seating was Korean-style (without the leg cramps experienced in Korea!) at low tables with space beneath for the legs to comfortably stretch out. The waiters bend low... More

Very lucky to stumble across (& get a table apparently!) at this highly regarded vegetarian restaurant. Its quite dark (so take your reading glasses if like me you're of a certain age!) but that just adds to the atmosphere/ambience. Very helpful staff with some excellent recommendations. Wonderfully tasty food that I hope is typical of Korean Cuisine generally, rather than... More

The experience is something to do once in your lifetime. Korean style seating with platforms that allow you to sit comfortably. The appetizers were good steamed dumplings and the combination pancakes. The main courses were disappointing they didn't have much flavor, but if you ask for Miso or any sauce on the side you can fix it up yourself but... More

Food was well prepared with good fresh ingredients. We felt that some dishes lacked some flavor though. Fast serving, waiter was a bit distant. Special with the Korean interior style, liked the seating on pillows. Overall a good dinner experience!

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
