Keens Steakhouse, a classic New York chophouse, was already famous for its steaks and chops at the turn of the century. Founded in 1885, Keens has 90,000 clay pipes that line the ceilings – pipes once smoked by customers after dinner. Today Keens legendary mutton chops and dry aged prime steaks are still without equal in the city.

If I die THIS is my last supper

So I went to NYC with my other half for May bank holiday weekend. After hearing great reviews about Keens we booked a table and went for 10:00pm. When we arrived, our table wasn't quite ready so we went to the bar, which had the greatest collection of whisky's! Had a couple of cocktails and then... read more

Been to Keens two times and had the exact same thing each time because the chateaubriand is exceptional and the cocktails are gorgeous. In fact everything about it is wonderful! Best steak I've ever tasted, there is only one place in London that i've had steak that rivalled Keens and it was twice the price so Keens wins. Just go... More

This is our third visit to NYC. And it's our 4th visit to Keens. This time we shared a Chateau Briand and my God it just melted in our mouths. We booked an hour before our visit thinking we would not get a table but the staff sorted us out. The atmosphere in the restaurant is fantastic and the staff... More

It depends what you ar looking for. Food was very good, the ambience of the place indifferent to disappointing. I wanted an upscale all-NY stakehouse. The place is a series of independent rooms, very crowded, not upscale at all, casual and touristy. Low ceilings, pipes hanging over your head is a nice touch but made me feel even more squeezed... I am not normally a fan of steak but as my husband is I thought I would give it a go. It is the best steak I have ever had. I went for a 8oz and husband went for 12oz filet mignon. I like mine medium well and it was melt in the mouth. Service was good, we arrived about... More

My boyfriend and I ate here on a trip to NYC. I booked it for his birthday as he is a big lover of steak and this was rated as one of the top places in NYC. Can not fault the food or service in the restaurant. Both our steaks were the best we have ever eaten, melt in your... More

The steak size and quality are the best you can find, wine selection is great and there is something for all. Side dishes are large portions, the potato two can share. Expect excellence!

I went without a nervation on a Saturday night (don't!!) and ended up eating in the bar. If one is dining alone, it's impossible to order - the waiter told me I had to order at the bar - and hold your seating. I risked all and left my iPad on the table whilst ordering. Food was good (steak, what... More

We had the T-Bone steak and Prime Rib. Both are way big enough to share. sorry we didn't order the Mutton Chop. Will save that for the next trip. The atmosphere is wonderful with the room full of clay pipes including some used by the most famous of people. The waiter saw my daughter open some gifts and he automatically... More

Reassuringly expensive. Steak in the UK is ok at best. Steak at Keens ........mind blowingly good!. Tender, juicy and flavoursome. Fantastic surroundings filled with history. In my opinion the greatest piece of beef I have ever eaten. A firm recommendation.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
