Keens Steakhouse, a classic New York chophouse, was already famous for its steaks and chops at the turn of the century. Founded in 1885, Keens has 90,000 clay pipes that line the ceilings – pipes once smoked by customers after dinner. Today Keens legendary mutton chops and dry aged prime steaks are still without equal in the city.

Second to none!

My family and I have been frequenting Keen's for over 35 years. It is our go-to place for celebrations or just because. Their salads are crisp and fresh. The steaks and chops, which they are known for are tender, flavorful and juicy. I would highly recommend the porterhouse for 3! Anything that... read more

Classic New York steak house complete with clubby atmosphere and old pictures on the walls. Steaks to die for. Drinks, hors d'ouevres, desserts all wonderful.

What a great place! We went for dinner and were seated promptly. the decor is very dark and cozy...low ceilings...you almost feel like you are underground. The clay pipes that line the ceiling are a fun and creative touch! Service was top notch and the food delicious! Do make a reservation as there were people waiting!

Was a late second dinner, so we split a beautiful filet and below average lobster bisque. Thin and tasteless. Not sure what was up with the soup. We were blown away on a previous visit, so we still rate Keens a 5 and would return in a New York minute!

I've been going to Keens for over a decade. A Pittsburgh rare porterhouse is my favorite. Recently took the kids on our visit to NYC - the only problem is that Dad's steak is not going to be good enough from now on! It is simply the best steakhouse in the world. Period.

Used OpenTable to secure our reservation and noted that it was our anniversary. Upon arrival we were greeted with two complimentary glasses of champagne - very nice touch. The restaurant is an old building with dining on three floors. We were seated in the third floor dining room. It offers a romantic atmosphere. Our server was attentive without being excessive.... Great burgers if you are near the Empire State Building. Warm and cozy pub, and restaurant. Enjoy a quaint lunch or dinner. Salads are enormous. Great prime rib hash.

Had gone to Keen's to celebrate with my brother in town from Syracuse, NY. Thought for sure I would order the steak, but saw Prime Rib on the menu..ordered it..great choice. Portion not only took up the entire dinner plate , but it was at least 3 inches tall. This was not even the " King Cut".!! Needless to say,... More

Maybe my best steak ever, apart from eating half a cow and being consumed with heart burn this steak place is first class, my t bone was just outstanding, the boiled potatoes in butter, real bread that is crunchy, and the green beans were expertly cooked. This place is super busy so either book the days before or mellow out... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
