Description: Keens Steakhouse, a classic New York chophouse, was already famous for its steaks and chops at the turn of the century. Founded in 1885, Keens has 90,000 clay pipes that line the ceilings – pipes once smoked by customers after dinner. Today Keens legendary mutton chops and dry aged prime steaks are still without equal in the city.

A steakhouse should be a mandatory experience when visiting New York and this time I tried Keens. Well worth the visit. Had the house smoked salmon. Great! Then had the New York Sirloin (of course), which was cooked and seasoned to perfection. All this washed down with a well priced bottle of South African shiraz. Overall a great experience and... More

Actually the food was very good, as steakhouses go. However, the salt seasoning was highly evident. The place was packed on a Monday night. Go figure.

Solid steakhouse fare, well served. Excellent service from our waiter, Mohammed, who recommended a California cabernet, Shelter the Butcher, that was outstanding and very reasonably priced. Oysters were fair, caesar salad was good, steaks, creamed spinach, french fries, and cheesecake were all good.

If you planning to dine at Keens there are several things to keep in mind: First, reserve well in advance because this place packs them in. Second, its best to fast for a day or two because this is not a place that serves thimble-sized meals of the kind you find in some upscale New York restaurants in which price... More

This is a big serving, big location, noisy, old style steak house. Come with an empty stomach and a full wallet! The food was great especially the creamed spinache! We shared a piece of key lime pie for dessert which was also wonderful. The lamb was the winner order for the evening and was enjoyed by all. My only (small)... More

Great Clubby atmosphere with extremely professional wait staff who were very delightful and accommodating in every way. My wife had the lobster salad appetizer which was great. My T bone was cooked perfectly and was a delicious piece of meat extremely tender and tasty. Pricey of course but you get what you pay for and we knew what it would... More

We went here for the best steak ever and that's exactly what we got. The place is full of character with over 8000 pipes on the ceiling and cases of pipes signed by celebrity's and legends. The steak was the best my husband and I have ever had and we love our steak, the new potatoes and creamed spinach were... More

First time at Keens on recommendation of a friend. Whilst the food was excellent the slow service and other little things when added together just let it down. Booked a table for 8pm, arrived on time but table not ready so were told to wait. When shown to table (15 mins later) we waited for another 15 mins to get... More

The Porterhouse Steak is really good. Taste it medium rare. There are no side dishes included, you have to order these separately (each 12 $). Most people tasted also sea food like oysters. It's looks also fantastic. The wine menus is very good. We took a red bottle from Chile. The service is good and fast. The house is very... More

We went to Keene on our last night of a weeks holiday and it was worth the wait, the place was buzzing, we didn't book but had a drink at the bar and they got us a table. The steak was the best I've ever had and will definatly go back next time I'm in New York it was fabulous.
