Still the best kosher restaurant in NY

The steak au poivre is perfect, and the meals are the best value of any kosher restaurant in NY. The appetizers & desserts are unnecessary - just enjoy the wonderful entrees.

Had a reservation here at 9pm after a Broadway show. The restaurant was full and remained so during my visit, as soon as a table left other diners replaced them. A kosher restaurant I had the twelve ounce entrecotte steak which was excellent. Asked for medium cooked and it was. Good selection of wines by the glass and the dessert... More

The most tender meat on earth served with the kindest staff on earth makes us want to keep on coming back for more! This place is the best of the best in the kosher business. No comparing to those jerusalem steakhouses not even close. Every single time or waiter (or waitress) are kind, with a seance of humor, and a... More

We have been to this restaurant several times. We even had our post wedding meal here. I have always left feeling iffy about the food and repulsed by the staff. It starts with the management of course and trickles its way down. The manager has one of those "I'm too good for this job" attitudes and it is clear that... More

150 W 46th Street, this describes itself a "A Rare Steak House, Well Done" and it is!! We didn't realize it was a kosher place until we noticed the large number of Jewish people at the tables. Never having tried kosher meat before I didn't know what to expect but the steak was so tender and just melted in my... More

We had lunch here, and after receiving bread and drinks very quickly we were hopeful our main courses would arrive quickly as well. Sadly this was not to be. I ordered the Tournedos "le Marais" ($36) requesting medium-rare, and when it finally arrived not only was it no longer hot, it was hardly rare. It tasted ok, but I couldn't... More

The attitude of the waiting staff put as much as a bitter taste in the meal as the raw burger I received. When I complained that the burger was virtually moo-ing the waiter then said that "the burger is big so they don't know when it is cooked"....ummm... you are a restaurant...you should know. The waitress then served my meal... More

Great place if you want a good kosher steak in an upbeat and sophisticated atmosphere. I have been going there for years and the food is consistently good and competitively priced. The restaurant is also open late to accommodate customers looking for a nightcap when a Broadway show is done! I usually order La Surprise when I am there for... More

Did not realize that I could only get the brunch but it would up being great. Kale and white bean soup was tasty (never tried it before) and chicken with salad was yummy (though could have had more pecans and pear slices). I could not even touch the breakfast pastries but they packed them up for me and I enjoyed... More

There is no better steak house in that area for what it offers: price, ambiance, service and most importantly. Taste!!!!

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
