There is no place better in NYC to dine after the theater than the staple that is Orso. Besides the delicious Italian food and the "inside" crowd, which may coincide with the very stars that you just watched on stage, this restaurant offers the low-key sophisticated atmosphere that is old New York. A tiny secret: There is a speak-easy in... More

After you sit down they will put on the table a delicious white bean spread for your bread (see my photo), be sure to try it. I started my meal off with the potato leak with sausages soup ($10) which did not have much eye appeal when the waitress put it in front of me and I did not find... More

This is one of the best places on West 46th Street Restaurant Row. Owned by Joe Allen who has the American restaurant next door, Orso is friendly fast and delicious. Having been there numerous times, I can say that we have never had a problem making our curtain or with the service or the cuisine which is mainly Northern Italian.... More

I have dined at Orso several times while in the theater district. They have perfect timing when they know you are heading to a show. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable. Our group had risotto and a couple of pasta dishes. We also tried the artichoke appetizer, which was delicious and ample for sharing. Looking... More

My wife and I visit at least once per year to tour and see a play. For several years now we have had dinner at Orso before the play. Not only is the location convenient to Broadway plays, but we have enjoyed seeing the same staff year after year. Further, the play dining is very focused on timely seating and... More

One of our favorite restaurants in the Theater District! We split a dish of risotto to start, followed with the quail and the lamb chop and finished with the cherry tart. Every morsel was delicious. The service was just right - not hovering, but we were not ignored either. We were not rushed, made our curtain without a hitch. Will... More

Gem of a restaurant. Fabulous food (hope the white bean dip and fresh crusty bread are on the menu when you are there!) Lovely wine, super staff, great service. Memorable and special evening out. Don't think about it just book it!! Definitely worth a visit!😊

We've been coming here for years and always love it! 5 stars in every regard. We loved the grilled artichokes and arugula salad. The scallop over polenta was oerfect. I chose the plate of 5 sides and couldn't decide on my favorite--polenta with mushrooms was wonderful. The menu changes daily. We made our reservation 30 days in advance but on... More

This is a hidden treasure on restaurant row. It's nondescript and looks like a little concrete bunker that you step down a few steps from the street to get to. Once inside it is white table cloth dining. They took our coats at the coat check and led us to our reserved table which was waiting. The food is traditional... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
