If you are fed up with all the good traditional American restaurants this is the chance to get the ultimate NY-Italian experience. The oldest Italian restaurant in NY city sticks to the history; both in staff culture and the decoration. We had a very nice evening at in the old Italian atmosphere with great food at reasonable price level. Very... More

What a terrific dinner! The staff was very nice, the food and atmosphere excellent and we even met the lovely Laura Maioglio, owner of Barbetta! And we made it to the theater on time! When we return to this great City we will be back.

Bad food, bad service. Visited New York for the first time the week of November 7th. My husband is frequently there on business and I had an opportunity to go with him this time. I must say, my trip was fabulous and I loved the whole New York experience, except for my visit to Barbetta. The concierge at our hotel... More

I brought a large group to Barbetta last week for dinner and it was ok. I'm not sure as a New Yorker that I expect more but the renovated brownstone and restored decor was very nice but not impressive. The food was good but not at an OMG level. I rated this average but it was a bit better than... More

We went here pre-theater and there was a pre-theater option of three courses but you can also order ala carte. We ate upstairs by a window and enjoyed the ambiance of the place which is in a brownstone and the oldest restaurant still in the city so a lot of history. I was told the downstairs is really pretty but... More

My husband and I recently celebrated our anniversary with dinner at Barbetta and tickets to the broadway show "beautiful". The food at Barbetta was very good. The pre theater menu has a nice selection. I had the braised beef which was tasty and tender and my husband had the rabbit which was also good. The service was excellent and we... More

Housed in brownstones once owned by the Astor family, this family owned restaurant dates back 1906 which makes it the oldest restaurant in the city! It has a very elegant, old world feel, and the garden dining area is a must. It's expensive but they offer a pre-theater deal. It is truly unique dining ewxperience.

Visitied Barbetta for a company funciton and found the food to be basically institutional. The food was definitely not note worth. An hour cocktail hour that boasts of two choices was an awful decision on part of management. An offering of some type of rigatoni as an appetizer was so lackluster. The mains were fine, nothing more that that. And... More

This charming restaurant is unlike most of the 46th Street restaurants. The food is good and the service is expert. From the moment you walk in you are greeted with charming and experienced people who know how to take your coat, lead you to a table and give you a menu. They do not introduce themselves, they just do their... More

On reading earlier reviews I had to to check that I was reviewing the same place - our evening here was like a visit to Fawlty Towers. Barbetta has obviously had glory days, judging by the faded grandeur of the decor and the ludicrously expensive wine list, but these have long gone. The food was acceptable but not worthy of...
