Stuck in a time warp

This restaurant is stuck in a time warp (1960's70's) but that is it's charm. The restaurant is a bit tired but the service was excellent. As for the wine list, it was massive and bit overwhelming.

Enjoyed an absolutely delicious dinner before a show. Although the food was excellent, the service provided by Eduardo was stellar. He seated us out in the garden, which is a beautiful dining experience. It provides a wonderful charm. Eduardo in fact ordered for us. He seems to be a mind reader in that area. He presented us with a magnificent... More

Had dinner here on a Thursday evening. The restaurant week menu was good. We ate in the garden/patio - it was such a beautiful night - in the center of the garden there is a fountain - the service was excellent - We ordered a nice bottle of wine for $40 - I can't wait to come back and order... We had come here for a late lunch after my daughter's graduation. We sat in the beautiful garden and the service was impeccable and attentive. The owner even came over to talk to us as well. My only gripe was the sticker shock at the end. Whereas I anticipated a high bill because we had a party of 9 and... More

My daughter and I had a pre-show dinner at Barbetta during restaurant week. Very nice place. Felt like a piece of Italy in the middle of New York City jungle. Because restaurant is located in the theater district, owner inquired if we had a show to see after dinner. They really tried to organize service so we could get out... More

Good food, lovely outdoor courtyard, but be forewarned if you delay them in any step of the prix fixe. Service screeched to a halt and we were nearly late for our theater start.

The ambience was wonderful. The service was wonderful. What I learned about the wine and it's region was new and interesting but the food was no where near what we expected. We Sent back the swordfish as it was small and not flaky. We substituted for scallops which were better. The soup was below average, the beet salad was a... More

Decor, staff, food all excellent. We were there on a Saturday evening, early, but never rushed us. My daughter wanted the gnocchi in red sauce rather than cheese sauce and it was no problem. I choose the swordfish, done perfectly. Water was filled immediately and rolls were offered frequently. I definitely would return.

We enjoyed our visit to Barbetta. Tucked in the Theater District, it was recommended by our hotel. It was a beautiful evening when we arrived, but rain was expected. They seated us in their lovely courtyard and said they had a table waiting inside if it rained. That was so thoughtful, and they scurried and moved us with ease when... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
