our hotel recommended

We enjoyed our visit to Barbetta. Tucked in the Theater District, it was recommended by our hotel. It was a beautiful evening when we arrived, but rain was expected. They seated us in their lovely courtyard and said they had a table waiting inside if it rained. That was so thoughtful, and they... read more

The ambience was wonderful. The service was wonderful. What I learned about the wine and it's region was new and interesting but the food was no where near what we expected. We Sent back the swordfish as it was small and not flaky. We substituted for scallops which were better. The soup was below average, the beet salad was a... More

Decor, staff, food all excellent. We were there on a Saturday evening, early, but never rushed us. My daughter wanted the gnocchi in red sauce rather than cheese sauce and it was no problem. I choose the swordfish, done perfectly. Water was filled immediately and rolls were offered frequently. I definitely would return.

Old world charm with excellent food and wine. Ordered the specials. The were fantastic. A bit pricey but the food and and wine and atmosphere made it worth it. Service was average. Definitely will go again next time in a the city

Opened in 1906 and still family owned Barbetta is perfect for a romantic evening or a pre-theater dinner. The dining room is lavishly furnished and the outdoor garden with it's fountain and trees makes this an oasis in the jungle that is NYC. We were welcomed as if we were family by our waiter. Renzo, the sommelier, is iconic in... More

food, though pricey, was wonderful. A recommended wine was superb. We did not use the prix fixe menu and ordered what we really wanted but the prixe fixe is much more affordable for those who choose it. Service is great. It is noisy before curtain time and we'd go 7 ish next time.

The title sums it up. The food is OK not bad but really not above average. We had a pre theater dinner and the staff was very accommodating in getting us out on time. The restaurant is also well situated to the Broadway theater district. They have a prix fixe pre theater dinner but with 2 glasses of wine and... More

Close to the theaters with a large menu selection. Full bar, large Italian wine collection. Waitstaff are engaging and can answer any questions. Very prompt service! Lovely gardens! Would be an excellent choice for a special occasion.

I have to say when I heard we were eating on restaurant row I was not thrilled. My expectations were low. I can happily say I was wrong. From the minute we walked in we were treated like long lost family. We sat in the garden; which is lovely. The maitre'd was an old school, old world Italian charmer going... More

We could not have picked a better day to sit in the garden to enjoy lunch prior to the show. Although hot, the trees and umbrellas made things comfortable. The melon and prosciutto appetizer followed by a half order of risotto was not too much and not too little. We shall return!

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
