Our 6:00 pm arrival received a warm greeting from the staff. We sat in the comfortable almost empty front sushi bar and table area. Their mostly Japanese guests are in quiet more private areas not visible on entry. The Japanese decor is relaxing. Kimono-clad waitresses enhance the ambience. The food is very good and a wide variety of choices are... More

A refuge from midtown noise and hustle. Excellent understated service and hospitable sushi bar. Very good food and prices reflect high quality and labor intensive service. Crab shumai a favorite.

This was our second time, we were looking for a great meal inspired from our last stay in spring when we ordered take out. This time we sat in, with our kids. Greeting was charming as usual, and the service very good. To say frankly, that is often the case when we travel with our little curly blond boy in... More

This is sort of an update since I did a major review a while back, but we now make it a habit of visiting Sushiden pretty much every time we get to Manhattan (living in a city where the sushi is decent but nothing special). To recap, this is an old school, true Japanese sushi restaurant for people who know... More

Eat here couple times a month and it never disappoints. Traditional, reliable, sushi. Ambience is nothing special but meal is always good and as it is midtown, you will pay accordingly.

The staff at our hotel actually recommended this restaurant to us. And we where really pleased with it! The service was very friendly, and the food tasty, with great flavors and variety. The waitress was helpful ind recommending food and beverage - especially when it came to dessert. We visited, at the end of our stay in New York City.... More

Simple, bare bones sushi that is fresh and classically prepared. No bells and whistles, just good sushi. If you like extensive menus with creative dishes, this isn't for you.... no yellowtail with garlic ponzu, not even a little lemon on your scallop sushi. Just pared down versions of very fresh fish.

It's the little things that matter when you enter a restaurant. The complementary hot towels and hot green tea following your meal as the perfect touch! Not to mention, the roll and green salad I had hit the spot!

First off, let me just say if you are willing to be seen in public eating a "Philly roll" or a "Volcano roll" or a "Rainbow roll" or whatever, stop here, this place is not for you. This is a real Japanese sushi bar/restaurant of excellent quality that (thankfully) refuses to be Americanized. Traditional Japanese touches: hot towels when you... More

Had a quick dinner here before a show (in and out in 45 minutes) and loved everything we ordered. Sushi was excellent and the chicken teryaki was very juicy and flavorful for the non-sushi eaters.
