Good Food, Good Price

Had a very lovely meal from the $39 pre-fixe menu. Lots of choices and since this was for 3 courses, good value. The food was delicious. Cosy decor and atmosphere. Marked down to 4 for service. Our server was waiting on too many tables, she was running around all over the place, very busy, but... read more

Marcel, the owner of Le Rivage make you feel welcome as soon as you enter his establishment. The service given to us by Agnieszka was excellent. With reasonable wine prices, and a all inclusive dinner special, you can hardly believe you are in midtown Manhattan. There should be more sympathetic restaurants like this in the Theatre District.

Le Rivage has been around for decades and has outlasted almost every French restaurant in the Theater District. There are many reasons for their success. The menu features traditional French cuisine( fillet of sole, coq au vin, duck) and service is designed to give everyone time to complete dinner and get to the theater on time. The three course prix... More

Spectacular food. French cuisine en famille: not ultra formal setting, but comfortable family restaurant style. Some of the best escargot I've had in this country, and perfect chocolate mousse. Pre Theatre Prix Fixe menu is expansive enough to provide something for everyone. We will absolutely go back to Le Rivage.

This is one of the very few places in NYC that still offers authentic traditional French Bistro dishes like Canard A L'orange (Duck), Coq au Vin & Boeuf Bourguignon. All are very good, but the duck is outstanding. Also outstanding were the appetizers we tried. The house French Paté, which in this case was duck terrine w/pistachio (so good!) and... More

I went here for lunch with my father and sister before an afternoon in the city. It was a fixed price menu and had a wide variety of classic french cuisine. I have the calf liver and lobster bisque. Both were very good and the quality matched the price. The service was good, and my only complaint is that it... More

Went yesterday after Radio City. Our reservations were for 4:30 and the place was pretty empty at that early hour. It was very cute and cozy with brick walls. Staff all French which I liked. We got the 3 course pre fix for $39. Lobster bisque was a huge portion. You could taste the sherry and I liked the crispy... More

It is a great french restaurant in NYC midtown, close to all theaters and many tourist attractions. By far, my favorite place to eat in NY.

We went to Le Rivage after a matinee. Everything was excellent, the good, the wine, atmosphere and service. Reasonably priced. All the reviews capture the spirit of the restaurant. We will be back. Our kids are grown and have different tastes and dietary restrictions and everyone had an easy time finding something they like.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
