My sister, my daughter and I went to Esca for dinner on a Friday night. We sat outside because the weather was so beautiful. The experience at Esca was fabulous. We ordered the tasting menu and everything we had was absolutely delicious. Yes, the crudo is exceptional. The timing for each plate was perfectly timed. The waiter was fantastic! They... More

This was our third time at ESCA. The tasting menu changed and several things weren't to our taste so we made our own. We had squash blossoms which were delicious . Followed with grilled octopus which was also very good . The best was the Branzino . It was cooked covers with salt. We have never had fish so perfectly... More

Read a lot of reviews before I wrote mine and saw a lot of negatives. Yes this place is really expensive, but the food we had was amazing. Over $250 for 2 with only 2 cocktails and 2 glasses of wine and no dessert. That being said, the crudo tasting was amazing. Seriously tasty little bites of fish that were... More

The restaurant is cramped and noisy. The food is decent, but portions are small and prices are high. One of my dining companions requested a refill of her coffee and was told that they do not offer a second cup of coffee and if she wanted more she would have to pay for it! We have never experienced anything like... More

Esca is always dependable in serving the freshest and best prepared seafood in the city. We much prefer it to the over-hyped Le Bernardin. The location is out-of-the-way if you are not going to the theatre, but perfect if you are. We've been many times for both lunch and dinner. Our most recent visit was for lunch and we were... More

We were packed in like sardines. The restaurant was crowed and expensive. We felt that given how expensive the restaurant was, the service was not commensurate with cost

Just left Esca, ordered a 88 dollars Franciocorta and 4 appetizers plus 4 vegetables, the maître de said we have to order more or leave because their policy is to order 2 main courses. Left immediately. Offensive place. They do not care for the client. Will never be back

Only food disappoint was the butterfish I had. It was ok, but not stellar the way the other dishes we ate were. And, being NYC, count on dropping $150/head with liquor, tax, and tip. I'd go again for a special occasion and anytime if someone else is picking up the tab!

I just came back from a New York trip. On a mid week night we went to the theater on west 43 near 7th. We got out of the theater around 930 and were right on time for our 945 at Esca. At 945 the restaurant was still completely filled. As per our reservation we were seated within 2 minutes... More
