We chose to have dinner at Esca at 5:45pm before our 8pm musical. The menu seemed more interesting than other restaurants nearby. When researching restaurants, I noticed that main entrees were similar to others. Based on its background, menu, and proximity, we chose to eat at Esca. The waiter was very courteous and professional. Our oysters and pulpo came pretty... More

We've been going to Esca for years on our yearly trips to NYC, and we have loved it. We still love the food, but the service has been degrading. This time, the food was still fantastic, but the overall experience was very poor. We ordered the crudo sampler, and it took an hour to show up. Our waiter was absent... More

Went for dinner with a friend. This is definitely not a cheap place to eat so it was disappointing that they were out of many of the dishes on the menu. No burrata for example... how difficult is it to order enough burrata?? There is no mint tea - only mint and green tea. And no camomile - only camomile... More

While in NYC for a weekend, we tried a new restaurant(to Us) and found a real gem. Esca is located in the Theater district, so great for before/after the show dinner. They are specialists in seafood, cooked in many manners not usually seen. The chef has wonderful touch with all manners of fish-basic, basic without many distracting sauces. You are... More

Enjoyed the evening - beautiful restaurant with an excellent wine list and dinner was delicious. First time I tried Burrata and loved it. Had the pasta that night and it was delicious.

We got in here on a last minute booking due to us being let down. It was a lovely place but the food was just ok. The main issue was the confusion between us and the waiter. We order a pasta dish for 2 and he split it which meant my wife and son got the smallest portion of pasta... More

We arrived without a reservation and we were offered a table immediately, the restaurant is very well laid out. The service is very attentive and the food is very well prepared with lots to choose from. We would have loved to eat out in the little garden but without a reservation that was not the case. We would return on... More

This cozy restaurant delivered on it's reputation of great food and impeccable service. We had halibut and cod, both quite different and distinctive. The accompaniments and sauce were well suited. Loved the 'crepe' desert!

We visited twice on our last trip and went home and raved about it. This time the food was terrible, I could have eaten better in a cheap diner. You often get a early clue, the man taking my booking had a bad attitude. I believe when you go to this level of restuarant you should walk out knowing that... More

We had a wonderful time! Everything was perfect. We especially loved the razor clams. All the sushi was amazing. My husband really enjoyed the polipo...grilled squid. We shared the spaghetti with lobster and sea bass! So good but I am sorry to say no room for dessert. Staff was great and very informed. We will make it a point to... More
