GREAT PLACE

Friend and I made decided to eat dinner here while visiting New York city. Tuck in an unassuming place. It was surprisingly had a good atmosphere and great outdoor dinning area. Everything we had was great. I recommend people to try this place.

Wow! We really enjoyed the whole Esca experience! Pre-show dinner and everything was spot on! Beautiful table outside in their court yard. The Sommelier Felipe was friendly and very knowledgeable and hooked us up with a fantastic bottle of Taurasi Red from Southern Italy. Our waiter and his team were fantastic! He helped us navigate the menu to perfection! We... More

This is a wonderful fish restaurant on West 43rd, owned by Mario Batali. We enjoyed the five course tasting menu with wine pairing. Each course was an adventure in fish, raw, seared, fried and with a "to die for" pasta. The wine pairing was very well chosen and unique. Service was attentive, but not rushed. The atmosphere is energetic.

I feel like it is surviving on reputation and tourists at this point. They are accommodating in that they ask if you are celebrating a special occasion and if you have theater tickets for that night they will adjust your meal accordingly. But, I feel like there are so many better options at that price point (or less). Also, I... More

This Italian restaurant is on the high end - with stellar service. We had a waiter who was genuine, warm and caring without being over-bearing. The desserts are the best. Order the hot apple - burned butter one. We swooned over it. It was recommended by our waiter and it did not disappoint.

Met a friend for dinner there. he suggested that was recommended by a friend saying it was only one of two restaurants in the Time Square area he would eat at. I now understand why. You should be an adventurous diner or skip it. From the pasta cooked in octopus ink to the ray fillet everything was delicious. We went... More

Went for evening meal here, and sat out in the courtyard, which was lively and had a great atmosphere (kids were present, adding a nice informal touch). The staff were very friendly and attentive. The food, however, was less than stellar. We went for four "alter" dishes (which we shared) followed by two mains. The altros were the soft-shell crab... More

It was a beautiful evening to sit outdoors in the lovely garden hidden from the hustle and bustle of 9th Ave. Service was great! We weren't rushed but finished in plenty of time for an 8pm curtain. The raw fish appetizer was perfectly refreshing. The Branzino was delicious. We also had the clams and linguine which was very tasty. Top... More

There is something quite unique about the food at Esca... It is a contemporary take on Sea Food and breaks down classical boundaries. The Crudos are a must have and are absolutely delightful in presentation and flavones. The service is attentive and atmosphere of a standard consistent with a restaurant of this class.

My bf and I have been deep into the tasting menu game lately, so it was a no brainer when it came to this menu. However, unlike most tasting menus where you start off impressed, but not blown way, but with each subsequent dish (and glass of wine) you are more and more overwhelmed and then you start to settle... Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
