Excellent Breakfast at the Sofitel

Treat yourself and start your day with a delicious breakfast at Gaby: French press coffee, freshly baked bread and mouth-watering food. The best way to fuel up for a busy day in Manhattan -- we never miss Gaby when we visit NYC.

This restaurant is inside the Sofitel Hotel. It is well furnished, clean and presented with Parisian style. We were staying at the hotel and this is where the breakfast was served. A la carte only. Expensive - averaging $30 per head, but the food was well made, generously portioned, fresh and the staff were very accommodating (lacto free, gluten free... More

I was introduced to this restaurant for breakfast by a friend when visiting New York and now go since then at least once every time I visit New York. The hostess is so nice . After only one visit she remembers me whenever I come back . My friend says she also remembers her parents every time they return .... More

I had breakfast here while staying at the Sofitel for over a week and other than fruit, pastries and smoked salmon which did not require intervention from the chef, I really can’t compliment anything else that came out of the kitchen. Despite a very wide-ranging breakfast menu, I highly recommend sticking to what does not require cooking because other than... More

We walked past the restaurant not long after we'd arrived in New York and decided to book a table for New Year's Day. The staff were really friendly and attentive and the atmosphere got better as the evening went on. The food itself was delicious, I had possibly the best steak I've ever had - and only for $29. A... When one gets tired of hot dogs and steaks, finding a nice French brasserie is a relief to the palate and a pleasure to the eye. Gaby does a great job of combining the magnificent quality of good American ingredients with French savoir faire. Excellent pre-theater menu, served promptly by a friendly and attentive waiter. Lovely Parisian ambiance and all... More

One of my fav spots in midtown, a hidden gem! Classy, elegant yet simple and cozy. Exceptional sevice, especially Aiden and his team! Food is amazing and always fresh. Highly recommend for all occasions - from business to romantic. A perfect Euro escape (love the room!) in the middle of crazy Big Apple.

Having eaten in Paris many times and being exposed to the typical attitude of many Parisian wait staff, it's not too surprising that service at Gaby leaves something to be desired by American standards. I don't understand why clearing away dirty dishes from the table is such an issue here but it is and this detracts from an otherwise lovely... More

I stopped at Gaby for a sort of late lunch. The chef was nice enough to prepare the vegetarían lasaña. It was tasty and fresh, still a bit spicy, something that I have noticie in different restaurants. The ambiance is perfect, ultra clean and tidy and the service excellent.

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
