Surprise in a hotel

It was not very full, and one could have relative privacy. Assiduous with water, though the wait for the lunch was long. The food was excellent - my friend had the "express" lunch, and I had duck with celeriac puree. My only caveat - the spicy mustard on the small amounts of duck overwhelmed the... read more

Came here today for the lunch RW menu. It's not very crowded, is it very low-key or restaurants attached to hotels not popular? A little disappointed the butter that came with the table bread wasn't warm enough to spread. We all went with the soup of the day - French Onion to start. For a small looking bowl, it is... More

We stayed at the Hotel Sofitel during the great Snowzilla of 2016. You know the one. Over 25" of snow that shut down Manhattan. I also experienced the winter storm that shut down Atlanta in 2014. Perhaps I am to blame for these weather phenomenons, but I digress. During that Atlanta storm, I saw excellence in service in the face... More

Great location, setting and service. Food quality warrants cost. We had eggs florentine and partner pancakes, both exceeded general expectations.

We enjoyed the food. My wife had the duck of the day and I had lam. Very enjoyable. It is mentioned to be a French restaurant. I would call it an American restaurant with a French touch. It fine food but not fantastic. Very polite service. The main draw back is that you do not feel like being in a... More

There are a lot of staff with specific roles however they are not cross functional, this may work for them however is not good service from a customer perspective. It can be a meeting place for guests and they struggle to accomodate the comings and goings of groups. Coffee is weak, one thing in its favour though is that it... More

If you are looking for a good restaurant you can walk few feet more and you enter Butter which is much better. The service in this place is terrible. They imported the bad service from france I guess (Edmond is terrible). They do stay open late but don't expect attention. Bring a book. It is in a hotel I guess... More

We always stay at this hotel because it has always felt like home for us. One of the reasons for feeling like this is the excellent staff in the restaurant. Over the years, they always remember us and we have always been treated very well. I preferred the dinner menu from a few years back -- especially their pre-dinner menu.... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
