Excellent Greek establishment in Hell's Kitchen. Wonderful fish and great selections of Greek specialities and wines.
We were traveling with another couple on a visit to NYC and spent our last night in the Hell's Kitchen area. Uncle Nick's was recommended by a Hampton hotel staff member and they were spot on. Wonderful dining experience, great food and wait staff, generous portions. If you're in the area, give them a try, you'll be glad you did.
Food nothing exceptional: fried zucchini soaked in oil, branzino burned not cooked, shrimp floating in tomato sauce...but at the end decent baklava. Service was attentive. The bill was high. With the big variety of great greek restaurant in the city I'm not going back.
If you like Greek food then go to Nick's. We had time to kill before our train and Uncle Nick's is close to Penn Station. The usual Greek choices. Very fresh with lots of variety. Try the grilled squid if that's what you like. They use lots of garlic! Popular with lunchtime office workers which is always a good indication... More
Hard to beat the value in N.Y.C. by exploring the busy restaurants on 9th Ave. One of the very best by this measure is Uncle Nick's. After many visits over the years, we have found favorites some of which can't be duplicated elsewhere. Some are: Mussels or Shrimp Santorini style. Excellent choice if you like olive oil & feta. A... We went to the 8th Avenue and 28th Street location due to its proximity to Penn Station. Two women just having a dinner out to enjoy each others company and catch up. The food was delicious but I had to write a review to mention the remarkable service. My favorite part..they let us talk , the service was impeccable and... More
Went for dinner on a summer Saturday night. Ordered the combo spread appetizer (tzatziki, scordalia, tarama, eggplant), and had to ask for bread, which was never refilled. Had the hot mezedakia appetizer (mixed meats) and it was gloppy and unappetizing. Heavy, goopy sauces; inferior sausage and meatballs. Ended up picking around the sweetbreads as a result. The serving was generous,... More
We walked up at this restaurant on a Sat night at about 8.30pm and even though it was fairly full we were immediately seated and attended to. Our drinks order came quickly and our meals order followed soon after. We shared an appetiser and had a main meal each. Serving sizes are generous and the wait staff very attentive without... More
Our group went to Uncle Nick's after the NYU graduate school commencement ceremony in Lincoln Center. The graduating student (my friend's daughter) had studied abroad in Greece and everyone in the celebration group had been to Greece recently -- so the restaurant was a fitting choice for our lunch. It was incredibly convenient.. we just walked from the ceremony to... More
Working in midtown NYC, Uncle Nick's is one of my lunch staples. They make a great greek salad and a tasty souvlaki sandwich. They also do a good job with the swordfish kabobs. They offer most of the same food for dinner at substantially higher prices, which is why I typically dine here for lunch. They also have a nice... More
