Great food, not to fussy

If you are looking for a nice but not to expensive place to eat in the theater district this is a great option! My daughter and I had dinner before our show. Once we were seated we were asked if we were going to a show and were quickly assured that they would make sure we had our food in... read more

The Thalia Restaurant is a very pleasant restaurant on 8th Ave at 50th St in Manhattan. Convenient to the theater district. Food is excellent. Service is too. Pleasant atmosphere and decor. They have sushi, but we didn't try any. Cocktails aren't stingy. There's a happy hour (check their site for times and days) and $1 oysters (7 pm to closing).... More

Thalia is a beautiful restaurant in the Theater District. Since we enjoyed it on our previous visit, we decided to come back again. We started with Lobster Bisque, which was delicious. Than we had the Tuna and scallops tartare, which was a bit too spicy for me, but my husband enjoyed it. We couldn't resist the most amazing starter: the... More

Went here on a whim for pre theater meal. The service was excellent and fast. The prices are reasonable for the area and the food was good, We would definitely go back.

Dined with work colleagues. While waiting for a table we grabbed a seat at the bar. The drink menu is hardy enough to satisfy most patrons but not too lengthy or expansive to cause delay for a long read. While less than social the bartender was attentive and made good drinks. Dinner selections are heavily slanted towards seafood, many tables... More

It was a warm day in New York and by the end of the afternoon I was eager for a beer. Walking on the 8th Ave I met Thalia and decided to have my beer there, what resulted as a good idea. Well decorated, good music, attentive waiters, and, a cold beer. I had two beers at last. Place that... More

We went to Thalia for dinner and were seated after a five minute wait. We ordered the Gallito-Cornish Hen and the Braised Lamb Shank. The chicken was tasty and moist. The lamb was delicious and tender, although some parts were rather salty. Service was a little slow as the restaurant was full. Food was very good. I will definitely eat... More

We had a group of 12 people for lunch here. The service was excellent! Very accommodating to our every need. The food was well prepared & very tasty. the location is very well suited for activities in the Theatre District. I would definitely come back here without a group to give them a try.

Came here with friends in the city to see a matinee - it was the perfect pre-theater brunch. The $10 unlimited cocktail was well worth the price. We had terrific service and the ambiance was very nice. I would describe the food as average - fine, but not memorable.

Had the concierge book us for a brunch on Easter. He made reservations at Thalia for our family of five. The room is large and spacious and well-lit. The french toast was decadent. The pancakes were the best I have ever tasted. Would love to try their dinner next time we are in NY.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
