Good, classic French food

Simple, classic French food. Good service. Quick. Cozy and comfortable. Not trendy, nor flash, but a pleasant experience.

We came for dinner to this restaurant to sample the Restaurant Week specials. The restaurant is small and intimate and the service impeccable. The appetizers, unusual for a bargain meal -- escargots and bison carpaccio -- were both delicious. The rest of the meal was also creative (arctic char in a brown butter sauce, marinated chicken, followed by baked Alaska,... More

My wife and I ate at Triomphe last night for a birthday celebration. I had read the reviews on-line and thought we would take a chance on eating dinner. I am glad I did. The restaurant is pretty small and intimate with maybe 15 or so tables. The decor is simple but elegant. My wife started out with the scallops... More

My wife is a french enthusiast and eternally in search of authentic foie gras. She has arrived at her new love. Top shelf wild meats on the menu, ample service. Its a little cramped. You're right on top of your neighbor, if anybody has to stand to use the facilities, you're going to bump somebody, so that detracts. But the... More

Pass right past Moderne and go next door to Triomphe and experience better food and a much more relaxed atmosphere. If your not just into the name, this place will delight for a romantic comfortable and elegant small space with exceptional food. Not sure how long the chef has been on but as of 2/20/2015 its spot on. In the... More

Yes, as most New York Restaurants are, the dinner is expensive, but the food and service are outstanding, and you have the option of ordering only as much food as you need or want, which isn't the same with many restaurants at this level.

My desire to find a really good brasserie in the theatre district has been satisfied at last. Don't know how I never tried Triomphe in all the years it's been open. The chef makes a great difference, of course, and the current Swiss chef is top notch, the food impeccably delicious and pleasing to the eye. I especially liked the... More

I have dined at Triomphe multiple times in the past year. Located in the theater district it has always been a favorite from the time it first opened about 14 years ago . The latest chef, Florian Wehrli has made it his own with beautiful ingredients and fine cooking. I always love the main dining room for the elegance and... More

Reasonably good American food but not worth the price; water over charged, 16 dollar for two bottles of plain water; many inexperienced waiters, going around in imprecise way and making confusion

Creative & delicious culinary experience! Each item was better than the next, and the beef wellington literally melted in my mouth! You can tell the care the Chef takes to source fresh seasonal ingredients for the menu. It was a fine dining experience, attentive service, and a very special birthday dinner! Convenient to theaters, a must try!

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
