Standard High End Midtown Sushi

There is not much to say here other than this is on the higher end side of mid-town sushi restaurants. It's a great spot for a corporate lunch but may be a bit over priced if you have to open your own wallet. They have a good selection of fresh fish that was very tasty.

We have dined all over Japan at many great restaurants. The food at this restaurant definitely is equal to some of the great sushi restaurants in Japan. We had the chefs Omakse menu and asked him to bump it up to $200 per person. They have a great Saki list and we chose a bottle that was $125.What followed was... More

We were very happy to pay the little bit extra. We had very fresh sashimi and sushi, good service and nice presentation of food.

I have been to Zen a number of times, recently in November. It is a fairly small, busy restaurant. Staff are fine, if a little distant. The array of sushi is really good, but does get expensive. This really is a sushi/sashimi restaurant in the sense that there is not a huge selection of hot dishes. Plenty of soup, and... More

It is a bit pricey but worth it. The sushi is fresh, the varieties wide, and the service is traditional Japanese, with lots of "thank yous"and "Arigatos". SIt at the bar to see the CHefs work, that is like the price of admission to a show where you actually eat what they prepare so meticulously.

Nice atmosphere. Expect to pay at least 50.00 a person. The sushi is quality. Our waiter was very nice.

It is always packed and there isn't much room between tables so don't go for very private conversations. The staff is friendly but can be hectic when all tables are full and the small Sushi menu is quite comprehensive and good. A good midtown place if you are into sushi

Top sushi. Not cheap. But great atmosphere. Good selection of top quality sake. Selection of fish was excellent. And very fresh. Only flown in from Japan. They do 4 flights a week. All Japanese staff which is always the mark of a top place. I am not saying others can't so sushi. I am just saying I have never been... More

The Sushi and Sashimi are very fresh, and the taste outstanding. I only get to New York twice a year, and always include this restaurant if I can. Prices are somewhat steep by my standards ($35-50 per entre) but worth it. One of my favorites. 44thStreet just off 6th Ave, a reservation is strongly suggested at dinner time.

I've enjoyed my meals here in the past, especially when Shin was still around. The nigiri is excellent if a tad pricy. A lunch omakase has typically run 140-170 pre tax and tip. The number of pieces are usually about the same, somewhere in the mid 20's, sometimes closer to thirty. I don't specify a price limit because I've had... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
