Very good and fresh

I stopped by to get a few rolls to go. They were very fresh. I would love if they had more daily specials. Looking forward to sitting down at a table one day and will follow up with additional details.

I had a fabulous "everything" omakase meal here at the bar. I was able to make a Monday reservation at 6PM for 830PM dinner, and it didn't turn out to be crowded, probably because of the nasty heatwave sweeping the city. We asked the hostess to seat us at the sushi bar, and she politely said it was for omakase... More

I don't really know what to say... Judge a book by it's cover? Marketing scheme of news articles at the front door? Pictures of the sushi chef? Interior Design? $95 for a horrible omakase experience by true Japanese chef is a disgrace on planet earth. For this kind of money, you get almost nothing. - Appetizer - NO SOUP! -... More

It's a pleasure to re-review Sushi Zen as two years later it's still an island of calm, wonderful food and service. We like to sit in the "chambre sepere" to the left as you walk in and we go around 8pm so we miss the theatre crowd. Staff is particularly genteel and nice.

There are numerous sushi restaurants in town, and not particularly easy to find one with good quality. I would recommend this one because of its fresh sushi of high quality. The fish had excellent taste, the selection were good and the staff were attentive. The place is quite small, but we were able to get a table without reservation on... More

Staying on a regular basis at the hotel opposite Sushi Zen, I have passed by It many times, not being aware of it's virtues. After finishing an exhausting day not having the energy to go downtown again for dinner, we decided to cross the street ... and... surprise ! ... We had a great experience. Tableware is typical Japanese, very... More

This little hideaway is only minutes away from noisy time square. Finally a decent old fashioned japanese restaurant. The armisphere is brilliant and cosy, but be aware, the next table might be to close for comfort if you have a romantic evening out or discussing sensitive business. Shake list is very good and my sashimi was just from heaven. What... More

Nice place, well located, good food. But $5 for a piece of sushi it's way above pricey, for my taste. Again- not for a roll, for one piece!

Simple traditional sushi expertly and excellently prepared. Very fresh tasty. We will go back the next time we are in New York.

We have dined all over Japan at many great restaurants. The food at this restaurant definitely is equal to some of the great sushi restaurants in Japan. We had the chefs Omakse menu and asked him to bump it up to $200 per person. They have a great Saki list and we chose a bottle that was $125.What followed was... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
