On Thanksgiving weekend last year, my wife and I went to Firebird with her mom after seeing a matinee of Kinky Boots. We had a classy memorable meal: Moscow Mule, flights of vodka, caviar and so on.

Great russian food and the best russian vodka. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The decor is from a russian building brought back to the US. It can be very romantic and also for friends and family.

I loved the food and the atmosphere when I went in November '13. On May 9, 2014, a Friday evening the restaurant was closed, dark and the menu had been removed from the display case in front of the restaurant. Jeff's awful night out may have had something to do with the fact that the staff knew the restaurant was... More

My wife I were in NYC to see a play. We wanted a special pre theater dinner. Experience at Firebird was awful. We should have walked out when we realized we were the only ones in the restaurant. We should have walked out when the waiter was rude and obnoxious. Food was very expensive and awful.

Like many establishments on Restaurant Row, you descend a short set of stairs to enter Firebird, and it's like you have been transported back to Mother Russia. The atmosphere is very intimate and the decor is laden with a profusion of photographs and artifacts evoking Russia's past. The service is formal but very friendly and helpful. There is a dizzying... The lamb chops were done perfectly and we really enjoyed the Kulibiaka. The Gravlax was outstanding. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Entering the restaurant is like stepping onto the set of Dr. Zhivago, at least before the revolution. The food is adequate bit not outstanding, although the appetizers were better than the entrees we tried. The Olivier salad was just moist enough without be overpowered with mayonnaise and the gravlax was nicely flavorful and served with arugula to give it some... More

I love Russian food so I was excited to try out FireBird - we weren't disappointed. We were going to an 8pm show so the location was great to be in the theater district but away from all the flashing lights of Times Sq. I had the beet salad, and borscht as my main course. Salads were very good and... More

This restaurant is on W 46th Street which is restaurant heaven in the theater district. There are probably about 20 restaurants on this block alone. We went after a show and got there about 10:00PM We were the only guests even though the kitchen doesn't close till about 10:45. The service was excellent, the food fine, but it seemed a... More
