I had a very pleasant lunch here today with my wife. The service was generally obliging; the food was solidly good; the ambience, charming. But these things were not what we had hoped for. My husband and I had a birthday dinner there. The food was excellent except the bread The bread was dry and not flavorful. The service was welcoming but we felt slightly rushed. The big issue was how jammed we were into the banquette. We were in a corner. I was closer to the people at the next table than I... More

With gratitude that La Grenouille still prevails. As you enter you are greeted by a gentleman who escorts you into a sumptuous mirrored great room. Floral profusion soars in massive scale, soft golden light emanates. Silk pleated café shaded lamps have their own glow, nestled atop white tablecloths. Certain folks sit side by side on red velvet banquettes. We were... More

The restaurant is beautifully appointed. Upon entering, you are greeted at the door where they check your coat. The Maitre D' then greets you. As our table was not quite ready we waited at the tiny 8 seat bar. The bartender was extremely gracious and very gregarious. He made me a great martini and told us stories about growing up... More

It doesn't get any better than this! A beautiful setting, respectful, informed service, and superlative food. Excellent, flattering lighting, no music, well spaced tables; all as it should be.

The restaurant has tables relatively close together for a high end restaurant, but we were there early, so we were not crowded at all. There are flowers everywhere. The wait staff is excellent. Attentive, yet not intrusive. The food is traditionally prepared and served, so if you like the fancy arrangements du jour, you may be disappointed. There is a... More

A wonderful experience from start to finish. It took a long time to get a table, and even then it was for 9.15 on a Saturday night, but it was more than worth it. From our initial welcome we felt the place was something special - and, walking through the crowded, buzzing restaurant, with stunning floral displays and wonderful décor... More

One word of warning: men must wear a jacket and tie. I know. But when you arrive you'll know why. Enter into a riot of fresh flowers and lighting that casts a golden mirrored glow overall and that is just the beginning, the food and service are impeccably French and for me at least, it was an effort to not... I used to enjoy every meal I had at La Grenouille. And maybe I was just there at a bad night. Maybe there was a temp chef on duty because the regular chef was out sick. But I can't believe how poor the famous champaign chicken was that night. Tasteless and cold! Unbelievable at those prices.

One of the finest nights of dining I have ever had. Fine dining the way it is meant to be. Pictures of the inside of the dining room do not do it justice. The flowers and lighting are simply amazing when you walk in. The food was perfect and so was the service. If you are in Manhattan and can... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
