My husband and I spent $300 for dinner for 2 for 2 prix fixe menus (the only option) with 1 cocktail and 1 supplemental charge. While the setting is luxurious the food doesn't match it and for the most part the dishes didn't provide much flavor. The scallops (exactly 3, medium sized) were oddly paired with a beet juice. The... More

The price for lunch appears to have doubled since ownership changed. My friends had been before, but it was my first visit. Of course, I was impressed with the beautiful fresh flowers and the service, but I had better meals during my week in NY for much less. I have been, so don't think I would return.

The room, the food, the service --all elegant and traditional. The grand survivor of an era when New York had many great French Restaurants---Le Pavilion, Caravelle, La Cote Basque. Worth a visit to just enjoy the fabulous food and the beautiful surroundings. Although crowded, you can hear your tablemate.

La Grenouille was a breath of fresh air after a number of NY disappointments. It is very continental with plenty of class and style. The atmosphere varied from floor to floor - we dined on the top floor, which was wonderfully romantic. The food was just perfect - most memorable calves liver and a gorgeous soufflé. The service was impeccable.... More

We ate here this past Saturday night while in the city for theatre (we made reservations 30 days out, and you will need them). The location of the restaurant is within walking distance of Times Square, but upon entering the restaurant you will find it beautifully decorated and quaint. The service is exceptional and help is there when choosing the... More

It has been many years since I visited this wonderful restaurant. Our first surprise was that given the outrageous prices charged by many NYC restaurants we found the prices here to be reasonable given the quality. Our week day night menu was a fixed price three course meal for $106 per person. There was plenty of choice at the fixed... More

I've never been to an artsy fine dining restaurant before, but this is a good place to begin. I think my friend and I were a bit underdressed but after they got over their initial surprise, they were hospitable and welcoming. We had lunch on a weekday so it was that crowded. Food was nice, fresh and certainly well presented.

Happened to walk pass this restaurant while we were looking for good place to chitchat. We were striking by La Grenouille outside decor. Had a peek to see what's inside. Within 30 seconds we decided that this is THE place. My friend wore his leather jacket which was not allowed. The restaurant manager brought a nice +clean jacket for him.... More

At the table they had flowers the smell of which would have destroyed even the best of foods. But the food was mediocre. The Saint Jacques were almost surely not fresh (i.e., not cooked alive) and served in an excess of beetroot sauce, which was a weird combination and made the dish look messy. The cheese was common place and... More

I don't get to NYC all that often anymore, so when I and my wife were there recently, I wanted an exceptional experience. This met that goal. The food we had was differently and interestingly prepared (scallops in a very intense beet sauce, delicious sweetbreads). The table Captain was a bit too "hovering", but not offensively so. The only disappointment... More
