Time Capsule Fun (Nostalgia Galore)

Only two kinds of customers go to Sardi's: tourists, and people who love historic places. We're the latter. It's a time-capsule, from the waiters' bolero jackets to the red banquettes. The staff is really friendly, and we love to sit back with a whiskey sour and pretend that Times Square and... read more

You go to Sardi's because it's an institution. The caricatures of entertainers on the walls is what the place is known for. The staff was excellent and quite attentive. We were seated promptly. The food is rather pricey for what you get. It's very good but I wouldn't say it's particularly memorable or outstanding. You are not rushed by the... More

When we asked our waiter how it was going he said "Another day, another dollar" and I thought he was kidding. Apparently he was not, as he delivered the absolute worst service that we received in NYC. It was fun to visit Sardi's and the food was fine, but the service damped the entire experience.

A must go to dinner place or after the theatre. My husbands cousin is on the wall as she performs on Broadway. Food is great, ambiance is upscale!

We were a title nervous about going to Sardi's because we thought it might be a tourist trap with poor food. How wrong we were! The food was so good. We started with the organic lettuce salad; the dressing was divine. My husband got the beef, and I got the scallops. My scallops were wonderful - tender and lightly browned.... More

I had never been to Sardi's, but a friend had nostalgic reasons to check it out - we were looking for a glass of wine after a Broadway show. The wine was bad - we left as quickly as possible. The place is run-down. Maybe, once-upon-a-time, Sardi's was a special place. The location is great: right in the heart of... More

We did not eat here but did stop by for a few drinks before a play across the street. We went right upstairs to the old school bar. The staff is dressed like it's 1976 and I think a few of them might have been working there then. They could not have been friendlier and they knew their drinks and... More

The food was good but the atmosphere wasn't as friendly as Carmine's, next door. I found it cold but that could have been because it was so empty...

We couldn't find a decent restaurant after shopping in the city (on a Saturday night) so opted to give Sardi's a shot. Not only was there no wait but were immediately seated (5 of us). This place has been featured in several films (Muppets take Manhattan, Mad Men S2) and shows. Most of the famous celebrity guests have their caricatures... More

Sardi's is that restaurant that was a treat to go to before or after a show! I dined here again November 2015 for the first time in years and cannot complain. The menu is a little random but the food was good quality and tasty. Service is great and accommodating. An old classic definitely worth visiting if you are dining... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
