Description: In the heart of Little Brazil street is the famous Ipanema Restaurant...
In the heart of Little Brazil street is the famous Ipanema Restaurant, considered to be the best Brazilian restaurant in all of New York City. Ipanema offers a relaxed and contemporary atmosphere complemented by the authentic cuisine our chef has perfected over the past 30 years. While the name Ipanema refers to the famous beach in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil our menu is firmly rooted in the culinary crossover between both Brazil and Portugal. Ipanema's menu combines the timeless history of Portuguese recipes with the zest and vibrancy of Brazilian cuisine, resulting in a one-of-a-kind dining experience. At Ipanema you can immerse yourself in a true Brazilian-Portuguese experience with famous dishes including: Feijoada, Vatapá, Pão de Queijo, Bacalhau Assado, Bitoque Mariscada, and more.

Great Brazilian

In New York, we wanted to eat Brazilian food for the first time. There was many choices, and the food was affordable. The ambiance was good, and the restaurant wasn't super busy. I had great sea food. The food was great, and the stuff were very friendly. We will go again.

Found ipanema by chance and glad we did, such a nice atmosphere we could have stayed all afternoon. Met lovely people at the bar. Clams and yucca we excellent. The lemon garlic sauce should come with a straw, all in all great vibe and nicely decorated with the plus os sagres and superbock on tap

I have never had better service in my life. The staff is great and really attentive to your table and they are very polite. The steak is very reasonably priced for a Brazilian restaurant and extremely delicious. My friends and I went here twice in one week on our vacation. They have some amazing rice and beans and the plates... More

The food here is SO good. They are in a new location since the last time I was here. It is a little bigger, and just a few doors down from their old location. The wait staff is always very attentive, professional, and courteous. We had the paella and the mariscada. The portion sizes are large and I can never... More

Dear escooby422, Thank you for such an amazing review! Yes, we have moved location recently but tried to keep the same tasty Brazilian and Portuguese favorites. We are so pleased to have customers return and discover our new space. Our wait staff was happy to hear your praises of them and look forward to always doing their best. Enjoy your... More

When I go to NYC I normally stop once at little Brazil to remember my good days in Brazil. Ipanema is probably the best one, the food is good, they have a foodservice and a good atmosphere. They just need to improve their wine list. i knew that they are moving down the street for a bigger location, I believe... More

This visit, I had the picanha, which was quite forgettable. My sons had the feijoada and loved it. So, in average.... it was just that, average. Service was good, if only the waiter did not go a bit overboard with his jokes... oh, well.

Welcoming atmosphere and a very attentive wait staff make this Brazilian bistro a good call. There were many choices on the menu including a very interesting yucca flour, fried bananas and feijoada. We recommend the mariscada to the seafood lover, with its lobster, shrimp, clams, scallops and mussels.

Had a lovely Sunday brunch with family. Food was excellent and authentic. My daughter loved her feijoada and her boyfriend and I each had great steaks. My wife had a palmito salad and black bean soup both of which she loved. I'd definitely go back.

We had planned to go to little Italy but it was dark and we didn’t really know where we were going, but down a little side street off 5th Avenue on our way home we spotted some bright lights … and found the Ipanema Restaurant. It’s a Brazilian/Portuguese fusion of food and so I was able to use my little... More

We stopped in on a Sunday afternoon for a quick drink at the bar. The bartender was super friendly and the cocktails so good that we decided to order an appetizer. We tried the shrimp in garlic and wine. It was so good! The sauce was delicious; we ended up getting a basket of bread to soak it all up!... More

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
