Small place, waiters are not the nicest in the world (to be expected in NYC), but when the food arrives, you will forget everything else, the picanha, the steaks, everything we ordered was absolutely perfect. And the touch of rice and beans makes it even better. Best cuts of beef I've had in NY.

The portions are huge and the food is delicious. I ordered the paella which was full of seafood and extremely good. We also ordered a shrimp dish which is served in a coconut, it has a hint of thai similarity in it but is so good. The steak was cooked so well. Some of the dishes, like the shrimp and... More

Very good, authentic Brazilian / Portugese food served by friendly / efficient staff - nice portions at fair prices from a pretty varied menu (meat, poultry, fish). The room was clean, not too loud or "tight", and decorated just right. Reasonably priced wine list. Never felt rushed. Thoroughly enjoyed our pre theater meal and would not hesitate to return.

..since I didnt. I had some kind of stew with monkfish and prawns, which was ok. Drawback was a slight ammonia taste of the fish. And the fact that it was drenched in this sauce which was.. A bit on the bland side, with a touch of coconut. My colleague had a steak and it came with yummy looking potatoes... More

My parents took my sister and I to Ipanema early January. It was their second time there and they were excited to show us how delicious the food was. And indeed it was. I had the lamb and although it wasn't THE best lamb I've EVER had, it was delicious. My sister had one of the steaks and that was... More

Only 2 blocks from Times Square, this place is a great find! Great food at reasonable prices in the middle of mid-town. The salmon was one of the best I've ever had. But make reservations, since they were packed on Friday at 5 p.m.

This was the best of several good restaurants we visited during a week-long trip to NY. Four of us arrived from a disappointing trip to the nearby Rockefeller Centre, scuttling through the rain. It was well worth it. The cocktails were good, being based on rum or something like it they reminded some of us of a trip to Cuba.... More

I very much enjoyed our meal at Ipanema. They were able to accommodate our party of 11 people nicely. Our waiter(s) were excellent. Everything I tried was quite good. We had the Portuguese sausage for an appetizer (make sure to get the hot sauce for dipping), which was amazing. I had a fried shrimp dish which was excellent. They cook... More

Dinner time at Ipanema is like a feast; we had the camarao a coco and the feijoada completa (Brazil's National dish) based on online reviews and they were fantastic! Word of advice though, the amount of food is more suitable for 3 or 4 people as we were both stuffed when only half our dishes were eaten. The coconut dish... More

We were four for dinner and no reservation. The host told us we would have a twenty minute wait, and it was well worth it. The bartender recommended the passion cosmo, which made our wait much more pleasant. The only problem was that the table was too small for all the food that was served, although we only ordered one... More
