Great Brasilian food!

Had a lovely Sunday brunch with family. Food was excellent and authentic. My daughter loved her feijoada and her boyfriend and I each had great steaks. My wife had a palmito salad and black bean soup both of which she loved. I'd definitely go back.

This visit, I had the picanha, which was quite forgettable. My sons had the feijoada and loved it. So, in average.... it was just that, average. Service was good, if only the waiter did not go a bit overboard with his jokes... oh, well.

Welcoming atmosphere and a very attentive wait staff make this Brazilian bistro a good call. There were many choices on the menu including a very interesting yucca flour, fried bananas and feijoada. We recommend the mariscada to the seafood lover, with its lobster, shrimp, clams, scallops and mussels.

We had planned to go to little Italy but it was dark and we didn’t really know where we were going, but down a little side street off 5th Avenue on our way home we spotted some bright lights … and found the Ipanema Restaurant. It’s a Brazilian/Portuguese fusion of food and so I was able to use my little... More

We stopped in on a Sunday afternoon for a quick drink at the bar. The bartender was super friendly and the cocktails so good that we decided to order an appetizer. We tried the shrimp in garlic and wine. It was so good! The sauce was delicious; we ended up getting a basket of bread to soak it all up!... More

Since we are in NYC and not in Rio or Faro, yes the food might not be as spicy or exactly like your mom's cooking. But for the rest of us it is a nice downtown spot yo have a reasonable lunch or dinner between shows. The service was slow and we had the time so, what is the rush?... More

Five of us were seeking an interesting cuisine at a fair price in Midtown Manhattan (a seemingly impossible task) after an afternoon in the City. Ipanema more than satisfied our quest. The theater prix fixe of $29.95 was very reasonable with nice selections and the regular menu was also comfortably priced with few entrees above $22 and which had several... More

Have been to Ipanema twice & wasn't really impressed either time. Tables are placed very close to each other, unpleasantly so. The service is unbelievably slow, especially if you're dining with a group. We waited for well over 1/2 hr. before someone came to take our drink orders & menus came well after that. If you order a second drink,... More

This was our first time here and despite a minor miss with our reservation, we had a terrific dinner. We started with 1 each of the croquettes & the crab au gratin - outstanding. My husband had the Xingu beer (which he enjoyed) & I tried 1st the white sangria & then the red sangria, both very good. For dinner... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
