Great Stop in Little Italy

We were in NYC for the Westminster Kennel Club dog show, and hosted a dinner for nine at Il Cortile. We had n0ot previously eaten there, but wanted to take these folks into Little Italy. We were not disappointed. The food was excellent and the service prompt and inobtrusive. We began with a... read more

If we weren't trying to make a flight, we would have spent time looking for another restaurant because the natural gas odor in the air was unpleasant. That aside the waiter was charming and the menu had much to offer. My expectations were high. I hoped for the quality and flavors we experienced in Rome. I think if I had... More

Recommended by the concierge at our hotel, we enjoyed a wonderful dinner. We were seated immediately in the back section of the restaurant that is decorated like an outdoor garden. I had freshly made fettuccine with Bolognese sauce. It was so yummy I could not stop eating it. My friend had penne pasta in creamy vodka sauce with shrimp. She... More

A few months ago - the family came to visit from Florida and the quest begun: finding the best Italian restaurant. So of course where else would we go? Little Italy We tried others and were deeply disappointed until we went to Il Cortile. A staple of Little Italy since 1975 you will enjoy some of the best Northern Italian... More

Wow - my favorite restaurant. It is worth the trip into NYC. The "Sunday Sauce" is just like the one my mom made. The appetizers are wonderful. My daughter had the Salmon - a delicious, fresh piece of fish. I can't say enough good things about Il Cortile.

First impressions mean a lot so when we got our bread basket, I was surprised by cold bread (like out of the refrigerator) and hard/cold butter. Not a big deal, but not what you'd find at a restaurant you'd highly recommend. Service was good. FYI, ask what pasta is homemade. The fetttacini was the only pasta that was made there... More

This restaurant was recommended by the concierge at our hotel. The staff were welcoming and attentive and the food was to die for. We only had 2 courses as the portions were very generous but the quality of the food was excellent. The prices were on the high side but we thought that it was well worth it. Would go... More

My husband & I were joined by another couple for dinner on Saturday 2/14/15 and from the greeting we received upon arrival I should have known there were going to be issues. The young man at the front door asked our name, looked at the list & told me we didn't have reservations. I protested & then he asked if... More

Staying in Little Italy

Neighborhood Profile
Little Italy
While Little Italy is one of the city's smallest neighbourhoods, its streets are packed with visitors from around the globe, especially on summer weekends when the streets are closed to traffic. Stroll up Mulberry Street, the heart of Little Italy, for a dense mix of Italian restaurants with sidewalk tables, cafes, and old-school food shops. Don’t be surprised when the hosts beckon you to pay them a visit. Stop in for a coffee and a cannoli, or grab a streetside table to take in the scenery over a hearty Italian meal.
