Being in NY City for the first time can be very difficult and overwhelming. This city has so many restaurants that you have no idea where to go. il Cortile restaurant was great choice, they have an excellent service and the food is delicious. If you go to this restaurant to miss to experience their indoor courtyard.

What a great night! The meatball is a must have starter with great taste. It was the best pasta I have ever had. The calamari was light and fresh. Overall a great meal with very friendly service. The challenge when (not if) I return is whether to try something new or keep with the selections that I loved !!! Il... More

Every night we stayed in New York we decided to eat in a different area. We visited il cortile as my sister was a massive sorpranos fan and said that was were we were going. We weren't disappointed, great food, great service and plenty of wine. The waiters could not have done enough for us and our dishes were excellent.... More

From the moment we stepped inside we felt like we were in Italy. The staff were so friendly and helpful. There was a mushroom appetizer special that we are still talking about. They had a cod special. I have never had something melt in ones mouth and have so much flavor. Definitely a place to go again.

If we weren't trying to make a flight, we would have spent time looking for another restaurant because the natural gas odor in the air was unpleasant. That aside the waiter was charming and the menu had much to offer. My expectations were high. I hoped for the quality and flavors we experienced in Rome. I think if I had... More

Recommended by the concierge at our hotel, we enjoyed a wonderful dinner. We were seated immediately in the back section of the restaurant that is decorated like an outdoor garden. I had freshly made fettuccine with Bolognese sauce. It was so yummy I could not stop eating it. My friend had penne pasta in creamy vodka sauce with shrimp. She... More

A few months ago - the family came to visit from Florida and the quest begun: finding the best Italian restaurant. So of course where else would we go? Little Italy We tried others and were deeply disappointed until we went to Il Cortile. A staple of Little Italy since 1975 you will enjoy some of the best Northern Italian... More

Staying in Little Italy

Neighborhood Profile
Little Italy
While Little Italy is one of the city's smallest neighbourhoods, its streets are packed with visitors from around the globe, especially on summer weekends when the streets are closed to traffic. Stroll up Mulberry Street, the heart of Little Italy, for a dense mix of Italian restaurants with sidewalk tables, cafes, and old-school food shops. Don’t be surprised when the hosts beckon you to pay them a visit. Stop in for a coffee and a cannoli, or grab a streetside table to take in the scenery over a hearty Italian meal.
