Great Retro Bistro in Tribeca

Was recently in NYC on Business and met up with some friends who live in the West Village and they suggested we go out to this great little Restaurant in Tribeca. 7 of us went and I was blown away by the service, the food, and the atmosphere. I felt like I was in Europe !! We started out with... read more

Very enjoyable dinner here recently. Busy and packed on a Saturday night. Couples, families with children and groups of friends, all having a good time. I had the frisee salad with lardons, topped by a poached egg, for a starter and roast chicken for an entrée. Their ice creams and sorbets are outstanding, especially the passionfruit. A bit pricey, but... More

It did seem to me our wait was inordinately long. More important, I had to keep checking with the front staff rather than their coming to me to explain what was taking so long (dawdling customers, they said). Once seated, however, everything from the service to the food was tops. Bustling, Loud-ish. My companion had the steak frites -- superb.... More

Quite frankly, The Odeon is one of my local joints. It has been opened since the early 80s, has lots of history and stories. However, I do hope the food could be updated a bit. Overall the food is not bad, not a standout either. This time, I had the grilled octopus and it was quite tasty. However when it... More

Called in for quick lunch but stayed for 3 course meal and feel that we experienced so much more than a traditoonal American diner. The starters were beautifully presented, the mains cooked to perfection and the dessert was to die for. Service was very good, attentive without being over bearing. Very glad we called in.

You can sit in the bar and people watch. Bar staff are great. Cocktails expertly made. Enough banter to make you at home but not too much to take over. Bar menu served well with your own napkin placemat and space to eat at the bar. My French onion soup hit the spot on a cold night and my partners... More

On our way to the 9/11 Memorial, friends suggested the Odeon @ 145 W. Broadway for lunch. We had no reservations, so we had a short wait. This is a nice, smallish bistro, and the food was very good,(with the exception of the amount of Rosemary in the Potato/Leek soup.) Great place for soup and a sandwich on your way... More

The mulled wine is amazing while it's cold, their sweet potato soup is so great and the steak tartar is a good choice. I loved the place

I have been going to The Odeon for the past 25 years. Usually always a solid experience. Yesterday I stopped at the bar on my way home to grab a bite. I ordered the burger medium and the burger appeared minutes later. It obviously had been pre cooked and the meat was dry. Still ate it since I was hungry.... More

This restaurant was an early trend setter in Tribeca and it is still going strong. Bistro type food. Fun place.

Staying in TriBeCa

Neighborhood Profile
TriBeCa
What’s in a name? In this case it is the unique title of “Triangle Below Canal Street” that became a popular nickname in the 1970s. An attractive neighborhood filled with handsome lofts on the edge of the Financial District, this lovely slice of Manhattan offers plenty of fine dining experiences and art galleries. Plus, it’s home to the city’s most exciting film event, the Tribeca Film Festival, that takes place here every year. TriBeCa is a great place to take a leisurely stroll before stopping into one of the many local restaurants or bars for a satisfying meal and cocktail. You’ll see families out for an afternoon walk, and don’t be surprised to come up with the occasional celebrity sighting. With such a great vibe, many of the city’s most famous residents call this neighborhood home.
