Denver doesn't have very good Italian

Maybe that is why I like this place so much. Any time I am in NYC, I frequent Il Giglio. The pasta specials are wonderful, and there is something for everyone on the menu. Yes it's pricey. It's NYC. I like that it feels retro, like you walked off the street and into 1965. I found the service... read more

This is what happens when you stop trying to innovate after being respected for some time. You price yourself to take advantage of name and location while not investing in the food or atmosphere. We have known this restaurant since 1990 and there are wonderful aspects to it. But the wait staff is that heartless mixture of men who have... More

Loved going here for twenty years but the restaurant is on its last gasp. They have cut back on everything. You no longer get cheese on the table or the small plate of dried meat. We did get bread and very greasy fried zucchini. the restaurant is completely barren. its a room with tables and that is all. Split an... More

We were given a gift of dinner in this restaurant from a family member who loves it. We have other family members who lived in NY years ago and also recommended it. Their intention was very generous but this restaurant wasn't for us. If you had a time machine and flew back to the 60's, envision an Italian restaurant that... More

Went there for a business dinner with two colleagues and, as always, it was terrific. The wait staff are friendly and informative, the food was exceptional - had the mozzarella and tomato salad with ravioli stuffed with truffles as the entree. Wonderfully presented and prepared. If I had to make a suggestion, it would be to offer more wines by... More

Quiet night in Manhattan. Service was attentive, not over bearing. Veal chop Parmesan was best I've had in years. Nice to find an Italian restaurant that the locals enjoy, instead of a reputation not recently earned. Really enjoyable night for an Italian food snob!

called several weeks in advance of our reservations about if it was the right restaurant for a 7 yr old party. I wasn't looking to bring the family down just a little group. after the lion king (part of the b-day celebration) we arrived at Il Giglio twenty late o/a/o traffic. there was only one other person in the place.... My family has been going to this place for over a decade. Always for a special occasion or a business meeting. Over the past few years the food has gone downhill BUT the service has been even worse. Our wait staff Julio was rude and seemed like he had no interest in servicing our table. We had to ask for... More

Staying in TriBeCa

Neighborhood Profile
TriBeCa
What’s in a name? In this case it is the unique title of “Triangle Below Canal Street” that became a popular nickname in the 1970s. An attractive neighborhood filled with handsome lofts on the edge of the Financial District, this lovely slice of Manhattan offers plenty of fine dining experiences and art galleries. Plus, it’s home to the city’s most exciting film event, the Tribeca Film Festival, that takes place here every year. TriBeCa is a great place to take a leisurely stroll before stopping into one of the many local restaurants or bars for a satisfying meal and cocktail. You’ll see families out for an afternoon walk, and don’t be surprised to come up with the occasional celebrity sighting. With such a great vibe, many of the city’s most famous residents call this neighborhood home.
