We were given a gift of dinner in this restaurant from a family member who loves it. We have other family members who lived in NY years ago and also recommended it. Their intention was very generous but this restaurant wasn't for us. If you had a time machine and flew back to the 60's, envision an Italian restaurant that... More

Went there for a business dinner with two colleagues and, as always, it was terrific. The wait staff are friendly and informative, the food was exceptional - had the mozzarella and tomato salad with ravioli stuffed with truffles as the entree. Wonderfully presented and prepared. If I had to make a suggestion, it would be to offer more wines by... More

Quiet night in Manhattan. Service was attentive, not over bearing. Veal chop Parmesan was best I've had in years. Nice to find an Italian restaurant that the locals enjoy, instead of a reputation not recently earned. Really enjoyable night for an Italian food snob!

called several weeks in advance of our reservations about if it was the right restaurant for a 7 yr old party. I wasn't looking to bring the family down just a little group. after the lion king (part of the b-day celebration) we arrived at Il Giglio twenty late o/a/o traffic. there was only one other person in the place.... My family has been going to this place for over a decade. Always for a special occasion or a business meeting. Over the past few years the food has gone downhill BUT the service has been even worse. Our wait staff Julio was rude and seemed like he had no interest in servicing our table. We had to ask for... More

I have been to this restaurant several times over the last 7 years. It has been on a steady decline! The food was terrible. They were known for their veal chop- not anymore (3 out of 3 failures) . It was dry and tasteless. Kind of like the wait staff. Our waiter (who will remain nameless out of the kindness... More

Having already read about the coat check, I surrendered my jacket without argument. I was there at 5:00 on a Tuesday for a business dinner and as expected, the place was empty so the service was top-notch. They gave us little appetizers to start off, which were great. I had the mozzarella and tomato appetizer and the cheese was so... More

I`m not new to tripadvisor, and I usally read through the comments before I go to an resturant. I had the slow roasted duck, as main course, and I must say, this is one of the best disches I have tasted in my entire life. When I go back to NY, I will go back here for sure !

I will always stop by this restaurant. Excellent is an understatement. By far one of the best in America and Italy.

This is a restaurant located on the edge of the financial district. The seating is a bit cosy, but service reasonably efficient and food good. The pricing is middling, but certainly worth a visit.
