Indian Fine Dining

We had a lovely time here, the food was exceptional and the atmosphere was calming. The price point is a bit high, so plan for that. The portions were large enough to share with my Father and Sister. We ordered a few dishes and passed them around-everything was delicious. Highly recommend.

The restaurant itself is very nice, spacious with tall ceilings and warm wood tones. The service was a mix of fine to terrible. As soon as we sat down, our waiter rushed us and was rude to me. We decided to stick it out and managed to soften up our waiter and even make him laugh. Unfortunately, we found the... More

Before I start the review, I would like to mention that please make reservations before you are planning to visit Tamarind Service: The service was awesome, staff is well trained and polite. Ambiance: The ambiance is good and pleasant. You will find office guys, grabbing a drink and some meal. On weekdays it is mostly the working crowd. The cutlery... More

Maybe the best Indian food in New York! But do not go there when is raining because the hostess refuses to (phone) call a taxi for you. It's not easy to get a taxi there, and if it's raining you will end up wet, cold and very sick. Try the Halibut, it's delicious! The only recommendation I would make to... More

This was the best Indian that I have ever had, and I've even been to India before. I would highly recommend.

The address stated here is incorrect. They moved to a different location in 99 Hudson Street at Franklin. The restaurant was beautiful and friendly staff. The food was good. Tried Paneer Masala, Mint Naan and Broccoli w/ Cheese Naan. The price is slightly on the higher end.

This has to be updated, I've just went there and the building had been demolished. This is what it says in its website: "amarind restaurant, 41-43 East 22 Street, in the Flatiron section, has closed its doors to make way for new building construction. The restaurant moved its operation, including staff and cuisine into its downtown venue, Tamarind TriBeCa, 99... More

We made a reservation & our seating was prompt, even though it was a busy Friday night. Our party was seated upstairs. We were fine, comfortable & did not feel segregated. We saw Caucasians, Latinos, African Americans, Indians & a mix of diners throughout. I must say the restaurant is beautiful, large & trendy. The service was good & I... More

Staying in Flatiron District

Neighborhood Profile
Flatiron District
Offering many of the city’s best restaurants and shops set amid classic New York architecture, the Flatiron District is no longer under the tourist radar. At 23rd Street is the famous triangular Flatiron Building, which makes a good picture no matter what angle you photograph it from. Be sure to look up at the elegant architecture as you stroll the streets - much of this neighborhood is part of a historic district that was home to many of the city’s most famous department stores at the turn of the century. At the northern end of the neighborhood, Madison Square Park is best known for being home to a famous burger shack, but it can also be a quiet refuge to spend an afternoon, and it frequently hosts interesting public art exhibits. In the lower part of the Flatiron District you'll find Union Square, a bustling crossroads at all times of day and night.
