Description: One of America’s most beloved restaurants, Gramercy Tavern has welcomed...
One of America’s most beloved restaurants, Gramercy Tavern has welcomed guests for close to two decades to enjoy seasonal American cuisine, warm hospitality and unparalleled service. The restaurant is perennially ranked at the top of Zagat Survey’s ‘Most Popular’ list, and has garnered eight James Beard Awards including ‘Outstanding Restaurant’ and ‘Best Chef: NYC’. Chef Michael Anthony’s highly seasonal menu consists of elegant dishes with a rustic influence that showcase the restaurant’s relationships with local farms and purveyors. The Main Dining Room serves prix-fixe menus starting at $92 for dinner and an a la carte menu for lunch, and accepts reservations 28 days in advance. The more casual Tavern serves an a la carte menu centered around the wood burning grill, and welcomes guests on a walk-in basis. The restaurant also features an acclaimed wine list, and thoughtfully selected beer and cocktail offerings.

This was my first time at Gramercy Tavern, and definitely met my expectations. There was excellence all around, from decor to food to service. I would say our waitress was the best server I've ever encountered period. She was super knowledgeable, friendly, efficient, just all around perfect. The food was executed with perfection as well, although there's nothing really mind... More

We ate with friends there recently. We had booked a table for 7.30pm but had to wait about half an hour to be seated. The restaurant is very noisy but the service and food is excellent. Because of where the restaurant is situated, they cannot order you a taxi. We spent about half an hour trying to flag one down.

A must-have New York dining experience! Contemporary American cuisine, delivered via outstanding service, and at affordable fixed prices. The diverse list of world wines and world beers is amazing.

It is a busy ny place, beautifully decorated. The wooden interior is warm and cosy, and the paintings tastefully selected, making you feel you are in an elegant country english cottage. A bit more light would be welcome. Staff is nice, attentive, and knowledgeable. We have to get use however to this american custom of filling the glasses to the... More

This is american dining at it's best! The food is delicious. Each plate is lovely to look at, but even better to taste! From the beef tartare to the black sesame ice cream, I enjoyed every bite. The wine list is vast, but offers bottles of every price range, so everyone should be able to find something that they like/can... More

Walked in with out reservations on a Saturday for brunch. The maitred' could not have been more pleasant and helpful. within 5 minutes I was seated at a window table. The server was there before I could unfold my napkin. After looking at the menu I asked if a dish could be prepared without an item listed could be altered,... More

My wife and I stopped by Gramercy Tavern for lunch as we've always wanted to visit and see if the hype was warranted. No doubt, it was. My wife had Lobster Broth and I the Kielbasa. We both agreed this is the best lunch we have EVER had. The entrees were perfectly cooked, my Kielbasa just spicy enough with a... More

We called to book a table, we had to leave our number hoping to get a call back. Lucky we did. The food and service were faultless. A Little expensive. But well worth a visit.

For those who associate american food with fast food have to come here. I'm sure they will change their mind after a visit to the G tavern! Service is excellent and dishes well prepared and surprising. Noisy as every restaurants in the city :-)

Staying in Flatiron District

Neighborhood Profile
Flatiron District
Offering many of the city’s best restaurants and shops set amid classic New York architecture, the Flatiron District is no longer under the tourist radar. At 23rd Street is the famous triangular Flatiron Building, which makes a good picture no matter what angle you photograph it from. Be sure to look up at the elegant architecture as you stroll the streets - much of this neighborhood is part of a historic district that was home to many of the city’s most famous department stores at the turn of the century. At the northern end of the neighborhood, Madison Square Park is best known for being home to a famous burger shack, but it can also be a quiet refuge to spend an afternoon, and it frequently hosts interesting public art exhibits. In the lower part of the Flatiron District you'll find Union Square, a bustling crossroads at all times of day and night.
