This is the best Italian Pasticceria in NYC. I go there every year and get frozen Sfogliatelle's for my parents and bring them home to them every XMas. My dad just passed away this year, but he used to make them and I would bring them frozen so he could smell them during baking. This year I continuned the traditon... More

You can make a complete meal out of all the pastries :-) It's a staple for late night, post-dinner desserts in the East Village. Save room after dinner and walk here so you can feel comfortable wolfing down the sweets.

We have been coming here for almost 30 years, both to take out (cookies, Cheese Cake, etc.) or to stop for a coffee (maybe with a pastry or some sorbetto). During an 8 year absence from NY (we lived in Holland) we still craved this cheese cake so much, so whenever we visited NYC we always picked up one or... More

Despite living in NJ, we come here a lot and have been for years. Try everything. You may have to wait a bit on line. Gives you time to think about buying more than you may need!! I love the gelato, Italian cheese cake, St Joseph's pastries and pignoli cookies.

The takeout line was incredibly long and we were able to get a full service table. Coffee selection was great and then the decision about what to try was not an easy one. Their Neapolitan was not a tradition flaky pastry. It was more cake like. The flavor was off and tasted like they used saccharin.

Tasted this cake which was really beautifully made; not just the design. Be prepared to wait as this bakery may be NYC's oldest and highly regarded.

My dad grew up around the block from Venieros so it's been our tradition to drive in at Christmas time to buy some of their fabulous cookies and pastry. We got there super early on the Saturday before Christmas and they weren't due to open until 8 am. It was 7:45, so we decided to huddle by the doorway until... More

We enjoyed a late dessert here last night. Very crowded but we were seated very quickly. Gelato very good, I had the chocolate windmill - tasty chocolate concoction. Canoli are very good. All the desserts we tasted were delicioius. Coffees were wonderful too. Service is very slow and if I were waiting for a table I wouldn't be happy. Our... More

It's the best dessert place in town and beyond, if you want to impress family and friends with baked goods you bring to their table. They even had hot coffee for people waiting in line on Thanksgiving morning. A guy exiting said, "It's the least they can do—I just paid $40 for a cheesecake." That made me a little angry,... More

It was my family's first visit to NYC, so I wanted to show them some special things that are not so well known to general visitors. Venero is for sure one of those. Always great coffee in the mornning, amazing selection of cakes, croissants and other pastry. They are known for the cheesecakes being among the best in town. Go... More
