What a disappointment! Arrived with a booking and had to wait for our table which was awkward as we felt very much in the way. Most of the staff were very friendly and efficient which was a real plus. However the food was VERY average and disappointing. There was a real lack of flavour and the jerk style setain was... More

I dined here recently for my birthday with my boyfriend and family. This was my 2nd time visiting Candle 79 (I wrote a review when I came here with my vegan sister too). I decided to come here for my birthday dinner, and the food and service did not disappoint (which I knew it wouldn't). I made reservations in advance... More

Wonderful selection of vegan options. Ev erything was incredibly delicious. You must try to cornmeal poppers to start. The service was outstanding, too. And, some of the seating is a little too cozy for my comfort but we were fortunate to get a table that was a bit more set apart. The ambience was nicer than I had envisioned. All... More

Last night 3 of us had a wonderful dinner there celebrating a birthday. The food and the drinks were tasty and delicious. It's a bit pricey but still worth to try it and can very much to recommend.

Tasty and innovative vegetarian food in a great location. Call ahead for a reservation. The Chickpea crepe and arugula and fennel salad were outstanding. Peak organic beer from Maine rounded out a great meal.

Three of us, all meat eaters, went for dinner and we all really enjoyed it. The servers were great, they make sure that they take preferences and allergies into account and there is a separate gluten-free menu. We each had starter- the Mezze platter; dumplings and the corn poppers- and not only were they all delicious but the portions were... More

I had never been to a vegan restaurant and was quite impressed by the variety and quality of this restaurant. It's local joint, not trendy at all but worth it for the food. It makes you re-think the way you eat.

Wife is a vegan and I am vegetarian, so we decided to dine at this awesome little place on UES. We had a reservation and directed straight upstairs in a very lovely and comfy environment. Appetizers: She had the Pad Thai - delicious and full of flavors I had the wasabi rolls - I ended up ordering it again Main... More

I was very excited about eating here. I'm a carnivore but my wife is vegetarian and we had booked a table here for her 40th birthday. My wife was in absolute heaven with the choice available and the decor, service and general ambiance was excellent (except for a 10 year old boy crawling around on the table near us, but... More

I'm not a vegetarian but have eaten many a vegetarian and vegan meal from Indian to Vietnamese to old fashioned American. When I heard that Candle 79 was one of the best veggie restaurants in NYC, I was excited. Firstly, the ambience is stunning. We were led upstairs to this charming little room that held about six to seven tables.... More
