I was delightfully surprised. We chose this as one of our party is a vegetarian. I am not and was prepared to be skeptical. Color me shocked. All the dishes were expertly prepared and full of interesting and delicious flavors. My Zucchini Blossoms stuffed with a veggie mousse and surrounded by a luscious salad was outstanding. My dessert of Berry... More

I was surprised by the amount of proposed dishes, a real delight for vegetarians/vegans. The burrito was outstanding! As well as the home made juices.

This is my husband's favorite vegan restaurant. The food here is exceptional and the dining experience is always amazing. You simply can't go wrong here. Perhaps my only criticism this time was the our waiter seemed very rushed and was not quite as attentive as he could have been.

Great restaurant for those special gatherings where you can get excellent vegan food. Service is consistently kind and attentive. Food was amazing, so nice to go out and have a menu that is totally vegan. No need to figure out what foods you can eat or adapt so you can eat.

I used to love this restaurant. Whenever I was in NYC I would turn down any plans that would keep me from eating here. Unfortunately, my experience recently was disappointing. The Caesar salad was uninspired (tasteless lettuce with chunks of seitan), the stuffed avocado was so boring I stopped after one bite, and my all time favorite Seitan Picata just... More

Lots of plant-based (vegan) choices in NY but the grilled kale salad with tempeh I had at Candle 79 (grilled kale, string beans, beluga lentils, red onions, kabocha squash, avocado, sunflower seeds, spelt berries, chive dressing) was amazing!!! The best meal I had during my week in NYC.

There are not enough superlatives in the english language to adequately describe the depth and breadth of the culinary genius demonstrated daily at this superb restaurant. I cannot count the number of times I have dined at Candle 79 over the past two years and I have yet to walk away less than in awe at the imaginative and diverse... More

Having read the reviews we were very excited to go to Candle 79 as we have been to Candle Cafe in the past. We booked on Open Table for a 3.15 table. At 3.10 as I was waiting for my husband to arrive a very officious waitress came over and declared we had to order by 3.15 as the kitchen... More

We really enjoyed our lunch. The food is "real" food - and the portions were generous. We didn't have room for dessert, but that menu looked delicious too!
