I went to this restaurant with a group of non-vegetarian friends. I was thrilled that all 5 of us were delighted with the meals served, the other 4 being non-vegetarians. It is really an outstanding place. Food was fresh, beautiful and delicious.

This and its UWS sister restaurant offer excellent vegan food and drink in an upscale atmosphere. I am an omnivore with carnivorous tendencies, but this joint was a very pleasant surprise. The level of creativity and taste brought me back several days later. Try the spaghetti and wheatballs.

I had been expecting a great meal at Candle 79, after hearing about it from family members. I was not disappointed. What a fabulous place. I enjoyed the signature piccata dish, so much that I still crave it. And, I still don't believe the ice cream I was served came from a vegan restaurant. It was a truly special experience.

It's always nice to visit a vegan restaurant to actually have a choice on the menu, rather than eating at a 'vegan-friendly' place which equates to one option. The menu is full of enticing dishes, of which the cheese plate and Mexican brownie were particularly good. I had the day's special of Mexican seitan with sweet potato cake and my... More

In the city for my wife's birthday. Thought she'd enjoy vegetarian lunch and I'd sacrifice. Not a sacrifice at all. Wonderful flavors, textures, presentation and service. I was the only guy upstairs. Couldn't have cared less. Try it boys, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

I've been vegetarian (and occasional vegan) for years and have watched as it has slowly become more accepted but it is still a challenge to find a good restaurant that will cater to our dietary requirements. There are many places that are, for me, a bit too new-age, laid back, spit and sawdust that although serve delicious food are just... More

My partner is vegetarian and this was our first experience of eating out in New York City. I have a strong feeling we'll be back. Everything that came out, from the unexpected amuse-bouche to the unbelievable cannoli, was delicious and moreish. My partner enjoyed the novelty of being able to order the special - tempeh with quinoa, black bean sauce... More

Truly fine dining. Generous portions. Tastes so good you'll forget it's good for you. Best to make a reservation but staff will do their best to seat walk ins.

Booking a table for our extended family (5 meat eaters, 2 vegetarians, 1 vegan and 1 extremely allergic to Gluten) is always a challenge! I was surprised and pleased to be able to get a table for 8 for dinner at this very popular restaurant at relatively short notice. All the food is Vegan and they have an extensive Gluten... More

Ate here many years ago as my Mum is lactose intolerance so a Vegan restaurant meant that she could choose anything from the menu. Normally Mum is unable to have desserts but here she had too much choice! It was our last day before flying home to the UK and when we left my Mum was given some complimentary cookies... More
