Great food, and I'm an omnivore.

We had a great meal here. Mezza plate to share was the highlight. Great tastes and huge portion. Black bean burger was very tasty. zucchini fritters actually tasted of courgette. Lovely wine, great service. Only wish we were staying long enough to visit again.

Give me a side of beef and I'm happy. My brother in law who is a strict vegen took my husband & me to Candle 79. I'll keep this short. IT WAS DELICIOUS. I don't plan on changing my eating habits, but I do plan on going back to this vegen restaurant. Give it a try.

My husband took me here for a treat whilst we were in New York based on the trip advisor reviews. As both a vegetarian (me) and a non-vegetarian (my husband) we thought this was the best vegan food we had ever had anywhere. The service and food were excellent and the menu interesting and varied. As the portions are big... More

As vegetarians this was an absolute treat. We booked a table online before our trip to new york and good job too as it was very busy when we were there. The food was incredible. So fresh and tasty and the waiters were very friendly. couldnt recommend this place enough. The only down side was that the whole experience was... More

My wife and I had the opportunity to have a night on our own, after a hectic five days in NYC with a three year old. So, with the recommendation of Chris, our apartment owner (an Irish vegetarian who also supported my soccer team - Celtic FC!), we headed to Candle 79 for a special child free romantic dinner. I... This is the best vegan restaurant we've experienced. We liked it so much, we went back a second night. All our diners had excellent meals, and our service was very attentive and friendly.

Candle 79 was my first vegan restaurant and the food was absolutely amazing. After this meal I eat 100% vegan if the Chef would just go home with me and cook everyday. We had the cornmeal poppers, the moroccan spiced chick pea cake and my favorite Chipolte-Grilled Tempe. Two days later we were still talking about the food. I may have... More

After visiting the Met we came across Candle 79. Even though we didn't have a booking they welcomed us in. Both the food and the service were excellent.

Excellent and very affordable vegan food that could turn a meat-eater like me into a vegetarian. This good choice for vegans, vegetarians and those who like to eat lightly. The restaurant is quite small but beautifully decorated. The place seemed quite popular We had a mixed snack plate for starters. Both were very nice. They have a good selection of... More

Neighborhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighborhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighborhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
