It's ok...I guess?

I mean, if you want to experience the delight of frozen hot chocolate right? The signature dessert is delicious, but is it worth the 3 hour wait, and the rude door host shouting at everyone to stop crowding the door? That turned me off; I got the instant impression that because they were the... read more

I booked this months and months ago and never reconfirmed. I don't know why I expected them to 'lose' the booking but they didn't, we were down and we had a great time. My hot dog with chilli con carne and cheese was really good - with a smokey 'dog' that tasted just right. The 'frozen hot chocolate' is their... More

Employees very friendly. About a 45 minute wait. Portions were very large and not as overpriced as some people here have stated. Carrot cake was GREAT! The Ice cream sundaes were spectacular.

This place was great. Not crazy that we had to wait an hour at 9:00 on a Thursday night but the Ice Sundae was so worth it!!!!!!

We visited Serendipity on recommendation from a friend. I reserved a table in advance and asked for one downstairs as one of my travelling companions is blind. The seated us in a corner away from the busy thoroughfare and were looking out for us when we arrived. Excellent customer service. The menu was huge (I know because I had to... More

Landmark restaurant that does not disappoint. From the food the the must have frozen chocolate, you have to take in the Serendipity! Stop in and put your name down and the walk to corner while you wait and visit Dylan's Candy Bar. Tacky to name drop in another's review!

Have tried before to eat here on previous visits but didn't want to wait 2 hours. This visit we made a reservation. We were seated as soon as the doors opened at 11:30. The four of us shared a frozen hot chocolate, delicious! They don't have a children's menu but our server had several kid friendly meal suggestions that made... More

Serendipity is a cute little cafe! Food and service are great! But my favorite item on the menu has to be the frozen hot chocolate! It's delightful!

I don't know what the hype is, food was sub par, long waits, nothing to write home about. Went here based on a referral from a friend.... Let's just say they are no longer my friend. NYC has dozens of better places, food, atmosphere, you name it. Looks like Serendipity is fad that is about to burn out.

I did not understand the hype, of course I never do, but the daughter had to come here for their Frozen Hot Chocolate. Must of been a school break but we came here mid-week, late afternoon, and the place was packed with a 1 hour wait. I typically do not wait for food, but there were a couple of other... More

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighborhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighborhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
