Excellent food

Had dinner with a colleague and the food was excellent. Veal was excellent cut of meat and the pasta was perfect dente. The owner stopped by to say hello and thank us - nice touch. Also nice was that you could talk no loud music or bar noise that is so common these days. Salutamu!

Ok here we go! We thought because of the location and the warmth of the decor that it was worth a second chance. We are in need of a neighborhood restaurant, since it's sister restaurant, on 58th street closed. This time there was a different maitre d' who by the way was very gracious and charming. We asked to sit... More

Vivolo is a venue that you MUST experience. It is without a doubt one of the better restaurants that I have ever been in. The ambience is subdued and refined with wood paneling and a gas fireplace to enhance and entice the diner, enabling them to relax and enjoy a meal that is prepared meticulously and served with aplomb and... I found Vivolo by checking for area restaurants on Trip Advisor while visiting NYC on vacation. We were in the neighborhood shopping and wanted something within walking distance. What a great find. The atmosphere was great as was the wait staff. Everyone was extremely attentive from making sure our water and wine never got to low to suggesting excellent appetizers... More

Off the beaten track, this Italian restaurant is in a beautiful townhouse. It's a great romantic setting. Ask to sit upstairs near the fireplace. While the food is good and the prices are fair, the real star of this restaurant is the quiet romantic setting and ambiance. All this adds so much to the experience of truly 'dining.' It's often... We have been there twice in the last few months and both times the food was significantly worse than it was several months ago, maybe even last year. Also the staff was less attentive and one evening they were screaming at each other. Too bad, it used to be a really nice local restaurant.

We choose this restaurant because my husband had eaten here in 2011, on a business trip. I thought, "okay" and I made a reservation. From the moment we entered until the moment we left, we were taken care of. Staff suggested items. They mentioned the prix fixe menu, which actually saved us money. The service was quiet and unassuming, but... More

crowded - for a good reason - it's special - the food, the atmosphere and the venue itself with its adept waiters.

All it takes to make me happy at an Italian or any restaurant for that matter is a well made Caesar Salad. Vivolo did not disappoint, tho more croutons and some anchovies would have made it even better. The Prix Fixe lunch at $28 is a good bet with several fine selections. Both my lunch companion and I had the... More

Vivolo is a gem! It was highly recommended and did not disappoint. Our party of six had a reservation after attending a recent Broadway matinee. We knew we were in for a treat when we were led to the upstairs dining room and it seemed like everyone was at our service. The attention to detail was superb, yet not overbearing.... More

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighborhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighborhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
