I've been eating at Malaga for years now. The cuisine has been consistently good: high-quality home-cooking style of "New York" Spanish. The best tapas are the octopus and the sardines (both exquisite), and the garlic shrimp is scrumptious -- a meal in itself. The garbanzo soup is fantastic, and as for main dishes, the Langostinos a la Parrilla is loaded... More

Went here for some taps and Sangria in the middle of the week. It was mostly empty with most of the bar full. I had a pleasant experience and Food was delicious. Im pretty sure i would return here again, but only on a special occasion.

The food at this restaurant was terrible. Calling it tapas is an abomination in the face of Spain, but even if we pretend that it's not a tapas restaurant, the food quality was still very poor. I have lived in rural Spain and also visited a lot of tapas restaurants in the U.S., so have a very good idea of... More

I have gone to this restaurant for at least 12 years..... My last three visits were very very very disappointing... Service was horrible they forgot to bring our appetizer.... And served our first course I told the waiter to forget the appetizer and he actually said to me but you ordered it already.... We did not except it... We ordered... More

We made reservations not knowing what we were getting ourselves into. We arrived on a Friday night to an almost empty restaurant. They never asked us if we had reservations (the place was empty after all). The service was poor. We had the most disengaged water I have ever seen. We ordered white sangria and they brought red. When I... More

I have dined at Malaga for over 25 years and it WAS superb. We went now with 6 people to celebrate two birthdays. My friends came from out of town since it was their favorite restaurant when they lived in NYC. Sangria was tasteless with no recognizable wine. Our waiter repeatedly told us we had to order two FULL carafes... More

We went to this restaurant on the upper east side of Manhattan and we enjoyed ourselves. We ordered the stuffed fried squid and meatballs in brandy sauce for tapas. We also ordered the black bean soup and the lentil soup-special of the day. For entrees we ordered pollo riojana and the paella marinera. Each of these choices were very good.... More

If I could I would give this place no circles. I have lived in Spain for a year and this does not resemble Spanish food. First and foremost, the owner is completed unphased by anything that could possibly be going wrong at her bad restaurant. The overpriced tapas: empanadillas, croquetas, tortilla are all so greasy and tasteless. The entrees are... More

I went there for a group dinner with coworkers, on a Wednesday evening, and the service could not have been better. The staff was friendly, courteous, and tended to our every need immediately. There were 10 in our group so they allowed us to fax in our menu orders ahead of time, and brought out the food just as we... More

Malaga has been a long time upper east side NYC restaurant serving outstanding Spanish food. They have recently refurbished but kept the menu, the quality and the service the same, if not better than in the past.
