Aureole, New York is the flagship showcase for Charlie Palmer's unabashed, energetic signature Progressive American cuisine. Now under the culinary leadership of Executive Chef Marcus Gleadow-Ware, who learned the importance of the classics at London's world-renowned Savoy Hotel, the kitchen turns out elegant, simple dishes with sharply focused flavors like Wagyu Beef Carpaccio with crispy shiitake, scallions, taro root, ponzu and lavash cracker. Aureole is located within the spectacular Bank of America Tower at One Bryant Park, the most environmentally advanced skyscraper in the world. Offering a range of dining options, the Liberty Room is smart and casual with walnut-topped tables and a back-lit, etched glass front bar with polished natural zinc top surface, the intimate Dining Room is designed in both lighting and texture to give off a golden glow, and The Halo Private Dining Room is wrapped with fabric panel and silver leaf walls, dotted with sculptural back-lit flame sconces. Now in its 25th year, Aureole is contemporary urban elegance.

Consistently outstanding!

Love love love this restaurant and will think of any reason at all to dine here. We don't mind the hustle and bustle of eating in the bar area known as the Liberty Room. Had a lovely pre-theater meal. It was a bit unnecessarily rushed, even though they asked if we were going to the theater and what time our show was. The Foie Gras was to die for!

Friend and I did the tasting menu as it was a special occasion. We matched it with the flight of wines- there was a mix up with the price of this but it was quickly rectified. Amuse Bouche of oyster - perfect, in fact of all 6 courses only the Wagyu beef fell below expectation- I suspect because we were... More

The food and service were terrific at this restaurant which is convenient to the Theatre District of New York. I had the Sea Bass which was perfectly cooked and NOT over-cooked...served on a generous portion of roasted sweet peppers and topped with a creamy seafood sauce. Note that if you want to dine a la carte, make sure they seat... More

At the suggestion of a business associate, my wife and I dined at Aureole on Saturday, March 14. I guess this confirms that I am in fact NOT a foodie, as we found the experience far less satisfying than expected. Though I had reviewed the menu via their website, the offerings were 'undistinguished'. I enjoyed a saddle of lamb, but... More

Gorgeous food, superb service! I was disappointed by a £10 per person charge to bring a birthday cake (we didn't in the end) but they made it very special by lighting a candle in the dessert.

My husband and I came here during Restaurant week, and had the fixed price menu for $38 each. I picked Aureole as I was keen to experience a Michelin starred restaurant, and this was excellent value on a travelling budget. I booked via the Open Table system online from the UK which was easy to use, and worked smoothly. We... More

This Michelin-star restaurant is not inexpensive (prix fixe in the main dining room is $96 pp for three courses, but the food is prepared superbly and the service is attentive without being intrusive. Good wine list with helpful sommelier.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
