Good Burger

Their burgers are quite good. They use quality meat and fresh toppings. (Skip the fries, they're not all that good). However, the Apple Walnut pie was divine! Bring Cash. No Credit cards.

I am the customer. Credit cards are a convenience for me. The establishment is supposed to take my convenience into consideration. It's the 21st century, Melon: get with the program.

After reading recent reviews I did not have high expectations about the service. What a pleasant surprise when we walked in and were immediately seated and then quickly greeted by a very pleasant server. The burgers and cottage fries were delicious - two servings of fries were adequate for our table of four. The restaurant is small but not noisy... More

As a NYCer, it's amazes me that there isn't a line around the entire eastside for places like J.G. Melon. A NY original that has avoided the fate of Diane's Uptown on the UWS that offers a great burger and cottage fries. No shakes, root beer and CASH ONLY, but hey...it's a neighborhood treasure.

We were looking for a reasonable, quick place to eat on the upper East Side and had heard about this historic burger-pub joint -- sometimes frequented by famous socialites looking for simple fare. This place is busy, and sometimes difficult to get into, especially on a weekend. But we gave it a shot on a busy Friday night and even... More

My wife and I stopped in after hearing about it on Kelly and Michael show. Best burger in town and cottage fries are awesome. We sat outside and it was a lot of fun. Ironically, Kelly Ripa was there with her two sons! Great experience and atmosphere!

It's nice little cozy place, the people are friendly the food is awesome. The décor is a little out of date, when you walk in you have the feeling you're back in the sixties. The service is a little fast they rush you in and they want you out so they can set the table for the next guy, mixed... More

This place is no frills, with dark wood walls and checkered table cloths. The burger is decent, prices are good. Service was ok- we got our food and no one checked back until we were finished with our meals (and REALLY in need of some water). They only take cash and won't let you sit until the entire party has... More

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighborhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighborhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
